I know strictly it's a no no but...

There is a sticky on here (might be in the CD forum) about the dangers of mixing alcohol and ketosis. Basically - DON'T DO IT!!!!!! You can do yourself real harm!

Abstinence is a short period of time compared with the rest of your life, so the best thing to do is to commit to it fully for as long as it takes. Afterall, alcohol will still be there once you've finished!! I've been out and had sparkling water and flavourings, and still had a good time. You really don't need alcohol as much as you might think in order to have a great time!

Here's the info:

DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL IF YOU ARE KETOTIC!
Alcohol is a powerful inhibitor of gluconeogenesis. In fact, it forces part of the gluconeogenic metabolic process into reverse. This means that if all the glucose in the blood is being derived from gluconeogenesis then the consumption of alcohol will inevitably cause the blood glucose level to fall. Worse still, the alcohol also stops ketone body production, thus leaving the brain entirely without fuel.
A person who is ketotic is 100% reliant on gluconeogenesis to maintain adequate levels of glucose in the blood. If, under these circumstances alcohol is taken, the person will become disorientated and might lose consciousness, not just from the alcohol, but from low blood sugar. Needless to say, this could be very dangerous, and even fatal.
Alcohol does not have these effects if the glycogen stores in the liver are normal. Under these circumstances the blood glucose level in the blood is maintained by the breakdown of liver glycogen, a process that is not influenced by alcohol. If a person becomes confused under these circumstances it is due simply to the pharmacological effects of the alcohol!

I'm with Deb in that I'd say it's a definite no - I'd really worry about the damage you could do to your body if you drink while doing this.

Honest you can have just a good nights out without it :)

I am sorry to have to break it to you but you will definately not be able to have a night out and get away with it!

Once you start LL you will understand, but if you cheat on one thing, it will probably make you think you can cheat on others and you will probably fail.

I know that your social life suffers, but it was my social life that got me this fat in the first and the second place (this is my 2nd time on Lighter Life). Sadly I think it is time for me to realise that I can't go on abusing my body twice a week (dinner + drinks) and still expect to stay slim.

We all want to be able to cheat and get away with it, but that is what so great about LL, you know that if you cheat, you won't get away with it - it will show up.

Last time I did LL I was without alcohol for 32 weeks. Now that is a long time, sure, but you genuinely do get used to it. I used to need alcohol to help me get along with people (I used to be quite shy) but I just had to learn not to rely on having dutch courage.

LL is not like any other diet, you really have to re-assess your life, and not continue living the way you are used to - and adapt. If you really want to shift the weight, you will power through situations where you used to want a drink - trust me, I love a drink, but I just want to be thinner than I do tipsy!

I did Lipotrim andhell, I missed my vodka more than my food. I had 1 night off when I went to one of those parties you just can't miss, and where you just can't not drink. I planned on sticking to vodka and slimline, but got cocktails FORCED on me! I got straight back to it the day after, and still lost 2lbs that week. I was bloody rough, but I always am when I overindulge, so couldn't say whether it was any worse than usual.

Having said all that, I would still say don't do it, as I've seen most people who DO come off the for a night or so (food or drink) never get back to it properly. The few months you'll SS are nothing compared to the rest of your life being slim.
