Confidence in clothes....

I'm a dancer and have been since I was 3. I've always been overweight but my dance teacher has been quite good at putting me in costumes that suit me. However, have just moved to uni and have been asked to wear shorts (very :/) for our competition in a month. I'm currently a size 18 but hoping to be a 16 by then but I'll still be dancing with a bunch of size 10/12 beauties and in front of hundreds of people I don't know.

Any advice?

aww bless you, im sorry to hear you feel like that. Who has asked you to wear the shorts? is it a new dance teacher? and for the record you can be a size 16 beauty!!

Yeah. It's a uni dance society so it's a 3rd year who has set the routine and taught the class this term. Everyone else was happy to go for it so I didn't really want to complain. Thank you :)

Yeah I can see what you mean, but if it makes you feel uncomfortable then that's not fair on you! Has there been a choice of what you can wear or are you just told??? I've just noticed your weight and goal, I'm .3 pounds of your weight and my goal is also 12st!! Starting on Thursday and getting my first weigh in :) what diet are you on??

We were just told. It's all about uniformity and stand out a bit because of my weight and I don't have long hair either :/

Nice to find someone with a similar amount to loose :) I'm aiming to get to 12st and reassess from there. If I feel comfortable I'll stick there or I may loose more. I'm on weight watchers. It was the one I felt I could fit with my lifestyle best... Loosing weight at uni is a massive uphill battle! What about yourself?

Re the dancing, I don't know what else you could try? Are the other girls accepting that you are a bit bigger than them?

Im starting cambridge, I'm ever so excited!! I'm aiming for 12 too but I'm going on dress size rather than numbers on the scales, Im a 16/18 and want to be a 10/12

are you aiming to be any size??
My best friends a 12 and she thinks she is amazing BECAUSE she's a size 12

i haven't told any family - apart from my mum and sister or friends - bar one, but not my best friend who's the 12!!! So I think the weight loss will be a surprise :)

I'm lucky that they do. I think that's why the said the shorts. To them my size is not an issue so they don't realise that it is for me. Just have to hope I find a pair I suit :/

I'm officially aiming for 12st but just want to find a dress size, weight and overall look where I feel happy with who I am and more comfortable and 12st seemed a good place to start. I've found it helpful to see the scales showing numbers closer to my goal.

I've told my close family, my flatmates and the girls I go for tea with (I'm part catered so get evening meals 5 days a week). For me, it's been easier to have the support and the occasional reminder to put down the naughty food. I've found it easier going semi-public as it means I can't cheat.

Good luck :) xx

I know exactly how you feel!! Re the shorts, have a search and see what you can find, who knows you might be smaller than a 16 by then?!

I hope I feel happy looking at the scales, haven't started yet so don't know what/how Im going to feel!!

When I'm at my happy size Im doing another for your eyes only shoot, have you seen them???

I might be :D I've managed to loose half a stone while doing my exams and not exercising (they don't run dance classes during the exam period) and in less than a month so who knows. I wasn't all that happy the first time I looked at the scales but it gave my the impetus to actually stick to everything.

That sounds amazing - a great way to show your new shape and confidence. My dance soc. did a month in the unis naked calender this year so the aim is to be at weight next year that I feel confident enough to do it myself.

Do you have any time aims?

I have already done a for your eyes only and they are great, really boost confidence :)
dont really have a time frame, we want to try for a baby late October and I want to be a yummy mummy not a fatty mummy!
Me and my hubby are however having a challenge, first one to their goal size gets £200 off the other one to go shopping- I sooooo want £200 of HIS money lol I suppose its as soon as possible!!?

wow at your loss that is really good :) can you feel the difference?? In your clothes and when you walk etc? Xx

Great way to fund your goal weight wardrobe :)

Up until today I hadn't really noticed and even now it's only at certain angles. But it really hit me about an hour ago when I caught myself in the kitchen window earlier. My flatmates say they notice a difference but I suppose the changes happen everyday for me so it's less obvious. There have been some positive side effects though... I'm much less tired and my acne is much better.

Trying to have a noticeable weight loss by the next time I see my mum at the start of March.

Oh that's good! I have quite bad spots sometimes and mayb it will help me?! I can't wait to get going, I'm just hoping it works well for me
do you have a weigh in every week??

I do weight watchers on my own through the online tracking tool but I make sure I weigh in at the same time every sunday so that I know that what I'm doing is worth it. But I have gotten quite bad at having mid week peeks so need to rain that in :/

How does Cambridge work? x

It may sound like a daft question but could wearing tights help? I am a size 14/16 at the moment and I dislike my legs but I find wearing tights make me feel a tad better xx
