Please cheer me up!

Hi everyone,
I've now been on LL for 19 weeks and knew from Minimins that one of the side effects of doing a VLCD for such a long time would be that at some point I would lose a shed load of hair. Well, about a week and a half ago, I started shedding. And I mean in great clumps! I am so scared at the amount of hair I'm losing that I'm starting to think I might get a bald spot. Just to add insult to injury, I have just got my first bout of piles since I was pregnant 15 years ago! So I'm balding at one end and sitting very gingerly at the other and feeling really low. I'm not tempted to stop abstaining or anything, just need someone who has been there to give me some sense of the light at the end of the tunnel! Please help!

LOL! I'm in week 18 now and I noticed yesterday there was a lot of hair in the bath! Remember though, you're only losing in one go what you would have NORMALLY shed over the past 19 weeks - so you're not losing any more hair than you would have anyway - its just you wouldn't normally get it in one go.

As for the other end.....ummm....can't help there!

Oh dear, poor you! I wish I could help.

I just looked at your tracker wow wow wow how well have you done that is awesome.
I guess all I can say is keep the end result in mind, and maybe let me know if keeping this up for 19 weeks is as easy as it is in the first two?

Its only temporary, rest assured, it will come back, cheer up hun and try to focus how fantastic you are now looking, go and spoil yourself with something.

You have done absolutely brilliantly, its only a short term problem.

Don't worry Linze, Sun is right it does come back. I never lost any whilst in abstinence but lost loads and loads when I started eating again but I never got any bald patches and it did all grow back.

I haven't shed any hair at all during abstinence, which is cool cos I hate pulling it out of the plug hole. I will have to sell it to make wigs when it finally all falls out.
The only time this has happened before is when preggers.
It is well know that this happens on VLCD, your body kind of goes into shock and holds on to it for dear life. Don't worry, you won't go bald!

Hi Tange,

I'm one of those lucky people that find LL a breeze! I've not let a thing pass my lips that is not LL approved (except for the odd Marigold bouillon) since September 11th. Obviously I've had down weeks but I love the control I get from LL and the head space it has given me to work out my issues. I'm not sure how I'll go when I'm maintaining but right now, abstaining is just fine and dandy! Wish you loads of luck with your journey!

Linze

Thanks everyone for your encouragement by the way. My hair is the one thing I've always been proud of, no matter how big I got, so I can't bear the thought of my 'crowning glory' disappearing down the plug hole!

Hi Linze,

I lost a lot of hair and it grew back no problem, so try not to worry.

As for the constipation a brisk twenty minute walk can work wonders for bowel movement and the added advantage it also gets rid of the belly fat.

Have you tried adding a spoonful of fibreclear to your tea or water once a day to keep things moving, I find it does help. You can buy it in your local pharmacy.

Well done on your weight loss!!!

Love Mini xxx

Thanks Mini, I'm going to get back to walking in my lunch breaks and will up my water as well. I guess I have to just put up with the hair loss thing. As Deb G has said, I'm only losing the last three months worth so it can't all go completely! I'm focussing now on the long term gains as you would no doubt advise!
