My doctor prescribed Xenical for me when I started my diet, well I was a couple of months into it. Id been warned about the horrendous side effects & was all set for them! He told me that if he thought I was getting complacent and not sticking enough to WW then hed take me off them.. I thought they were going to be the answer to my prayers.... What a disapointment they were.. not a thing happened, didnt do me a bit of good

Jools - yep. I'm taking reductil. Prescribed by my GP and definitly worth it if you can get it. It helps with feelings of satisfaction and hunger. I don't feel hungry as often as I used to. I rarely get cravings any more and I find less food makes me feel more satisified.
of course, I can still overeat when I'm p***ed off, but if I have the motivation to be good it definitely helps.
As for the over the counter ones, they're all nonsense.

Jools, I'm currently 16stone and need to lose at least 5st 7lbs. There are some side effects on reductil. the worst is that it can send your blood pressure soaring. You have to be monitored every 2 weeks for the first three months and if it goes too high they take you off it.
I went to the GP for help at the time and my thinking was, all she can say is no. Why not ask and see what they can do for you?

Exactly - so remember to make that appointment in the morning with your GP.
And don't forget to tell them that you're struggling (sob sob) etc. Cravings are worst, etc. etc..... (every little helps)

My dr also prescribed me reductil the last time i seriously dieted (about 2yrs ago). I was also following ww so can't be sure how good they were, although i definately wasn't as hungry or had as many cravings,so i think they did help me stick to ww.
I also tried phentermine a couple of years ago but made me a bit jumpy/edgy, didn't really like it although i wasn't hungry at all on that.
I actually have Alli in the house just now, it's the over the counter version of xenical but the side effects warnings have made me too scared to take it, i'm worried in case i poop myself!! lol
Did anyone on the real xenical have any problems?

Hmmmmmm!
I have tried them in the past bought them from a beauty salon which ran a slimming clinic. Did help with keeping appetite down but had side effects which I didn't like. I took them for a while and did lose weight but stopped because I could not sleep at all. And they were very expensive

My doctor warned my with Xenical that nasty and I mean NASTY accidents are a real possiblity.
