Any tips for CD?

Hi all,

Just started Cambridge diet and I'm hungry! I really want to stick to this. I've had 4 children and for a long time thought that I was always going to be this weight but recently a lady at my workplace lost 4st on this diet and that inspired me.

I read in one of the books that you should weigh yourself at the same time everyday and after my first day (Thursday) I've lost 3.5 pounds....surely that can't be right...can it? I've been going to the loo and awful lot and am trying to stay determined. Does anyone have any tips on hunger pangs and trying not to give in to the temptation to eat, well, just about anything other than shakes?

All tips appreciated.

Thanks:)

Water is the key all the way through CD.

The initial fast weight loss is water weight but yes it is correct.

I lost 17lbs in my first 7 days of SS

At the beginning it can be helpful to split your shakes and have 6 meals per day instead of 3. After the first week you will find that you don't need to do this. Ketosis will kick in by about Day 4/5 and is to be welcomed.

Hope all goes well!

Well done for making a positive step towards a 'new you'. The first week on CD is pretty tough and there's not much you can do I'm afraid other than stick it out, drink loads of water and stay as occupied as possible in the knowledge that it all gets easier once you're in ketosis.

Once there, the physical hunger isn't such a problem anymore - you just have to deal with the psychologica hunger ... the "I fancy something" syndrome.

Keep posting on here if you feel tempted or just want to vent ... also there are heaps of people to help with problems and questions. You'll get all the support and encouragement you need here so feel free to post like a mad thing!!

When's your first weigh in?

Hi Dennie

Welcome to CD and to Minis! As STBG said water is the secret, it will help with the losses and the hunger pangs. The first week is tough but if you grit your teeth, ketosis will arrive and you will start to feel much better.... and the first weigh in will be well worth it!

Good luck and look forward to seeing you shrink!

Brill!! Now I'm really excited! Thanks for that. I have been drinking lots of water (albeit fizzy) but it has helped a bit with the hunger. I'll keep drinking then.

Never thought about splitting but will give it a go. Thanks very much.

:)

Oooh - another fizzy water fan! I thought I was alone on this one!! :)

Hi Dennie,

:welcome:
It is very motivating to see the scales go down so fast:)

Your body will get use to all the water and the trips to the loo to ease off after the first week.

Love Mini xxx

My first weigh in is this Thursday and it couldn't be sooner! Desperate to see if it's paying off.

I have to do it now, not getting any younger although thirties is hardly old, just old enough to know that now is the right time.

Thanks again for tips. I'm afraid I'll probably keep posting through the hunger if you all don't mind.

Thanks for support.

Hiya Dennie, welcome to minimins and good luck on your weight loss journey and well done on getting so far unscathed. Water really is the key and that sheer determination to see the numbers dropping on those scales because you 100% will do if you stick to it!! Good luck hun xx

Hi Dennie and welcome to minimins!!

I think everyone else has given you the best tips so I wont repeat them ... oh ok go on then I will .... lol .... water, water, water, post lots here and you'll do great, we all will! x

Morning all

Hi all,

Just to report that i'm feeling really motivated. I had a lie-in so that I wouldn't have breakfast too early and am all set to go with 6 halves instead of 3 wholes today.

I got on the scales not really expecting very much and another 3 pounds have gone...Whoopee!!! I have now sat and worked out that if the weight continues to drop (even if it settles to 2lbs a day) then by WI I will be considerably lighter. This is GREAT!!!

It's so much easier to drink lots of water at work (fizzy) so popping out now to buy some fizzy water to keep up my intake.

:D

Great to hear you sounding sooo motivated Dennie it will really help you keep on track. Your WI in will be here in no time - be prepared to be amazed!!

Gxx

Thanks and you look absolutely amazing!! It's so motivating to see the weight loss so far by everyone and even more amazing when you see before and after pictures. Well done to you - you are an inspiration.
;)

Well done so far Dennie, you sound really motivated, which is fab. Like everyone has said make water your new best friend, stick to the plan and just watch the weight fall off!!

Look forward to hearing how you've done when you go for your 1st week weigh in, sounds like you will have a great loss :D
