Whilst I was out last night I bumped into a friend I hadn't seen since long before starting CD.

He said "my God how much weight have you lost?"

So I said "nearly 7 stones"

his response was " oh you have had a gastric bypass have you?"

The friends of mine 'in the know' about my Cambridge journey soon put him straight on that one.

To his credit he did say "you look absolutely fantastic" which was nice of him! He is homosexual so doesn't normally give compliments out like that.

Why do they always assume we have had surgery?

Maybe it's because there as been alot of it in TV lately!!!

It's nice that he gave you a lovely comment, you deserve it....xxx

Yes, gastric bypass seems to be the 'in' thing at the moment.

Its probably also the fact that you have done so well in a short space of time. People tend to think its only achievable with weight loss surgery!

And for some reason ppl think that the surgery route is the quick and easy way - I imagine once you've developed that yicky relationship with food having a smaller stomach doesn't really count for much. Its not like I only eat when I m hungry now anyway..i'd soon set about stretchin my stomach lol


Well done on your weight loss and just take the compliment away from that encounter - no one can deny you your hard earned achievement.
