Im going to lose 10 stone!

Here is a brand new sparkly diary to hopefully keep on track. I'm taking small steps at a time to hopefully avoid the binge and starve cycle I've been stuck for about ten years! I'm starting out at almost my heaviest - ( I don't know how to alter my profile here, but I am nearing 20 stone now). I'm going to be going with the 'no diet plan' as in the gi jeans book. It's basically the 5% fat rule with no treats, limited snacking and red, amber and green list of foods.

First day today and all has been good so far:

Breakfast:
Weetabix golden syrup with skimmed milk and a banana.

Lunch:
Ham salad sandwich (spread with Branston) on whole grain bread
Activia 0% yogurt
Grapes

Dinner:
Low fat sausages (4) with jacket potato, salad and extra light mayo.
Meringue nest, raspberries and extra light Philly mixed with vanilla essence

Is extra light Philly in the 5% fat rule? I have this sneaky suspicion it's not! Eek!

Hi firfenwen, I think you'll be fine with the extra light philly, if not don't worry too much about it at the moment. My first couple of weeks I had foods in the fridge/cupboard that didn't quite meet the 5% rule and I refused to throw away - I hate throwing food away! It didn't stop me losing weight in those weeks, probably because my portion sizes had dropped quite a bit from what I was used to ;)

Your diary looks great, I'd never have thought of mixing vanilla essence in low fat cheese, I'll have to give that a try! The only thing I'd suggest is to have two 50 cal power snacks so it's not too long between meals. They don't seem much but they really help tide me over til the next meal.

Thanks for the advice, I'm going to try snacks today to see if it will help reduce portions at main meals. I'm not a big fruit lover so may choose something different - this morning I had ryvita spread with a bit of marmalade. Took quite a lot of effort not to eat more though!

Will post today's full diary later!

Ok, so the last day has been a complete write off. I'm not sure what happened but I ended up in a binge. I think I left it too long between meals and I need to have more of a snack between lunch and evening.

Anyway, keep on with this, back to it tomorrow - going to try Hairy Dieters lasagne at some point over the next few days.

I have two snacks between lunch and dinner, it's too long otherwise, one mid afternoon, one on the way home from work. You just need to figure out what'll work for you. Try not to be disheartened, it's still early days, at least you're aware of what you're doing. x

I've been watching the hairy bikers too and I'm planning to try the lasagne when I have a bit of time, the crumpets look yummy too, love crumpets!!

Haven't been online for a while, but I'm finally back. It's been a hard week with bad things happening in my personal life. All sorted now so can concentrate on this!

My weight has stayed the same despite not following any plan for a couple of weeks. I have however been eating loads more home cooked food and testing out recipes. After reading some of the Hairy Dieters a lot of the recipes are not too dissimilar to Rosemary' s so I've dug out her cook books.

Great recipes I've tried ( but probably not portion controlled) have been lasagne ( RC), risottos, curries.

I've also signed up for a local veg box to be delivered so then I have to eat them! I'm really struggling with fruit because no matter how hard I try I really don't enjoy it.

Anyway, food diary back tomorrow
