My Name is Mandy, I did LighterLife in 2006 and lost a total of 7stone 8lb, then I was taken really ill with Gall Stones and and ended up in hospital for a total of two weeks and from then on it just got worse, and I have since piled on all the weight I lost and an extra 5lb!

I started LL last night and I really want to do this, I have been put forward for the gastric banding but I know this diet works, so i wanted to give it one last try! :sigh:

I want to keep saying I CAN DO IT!!!!! but then I think about food......

My counsellor said last night that it would be really hard the first two weeks, which has really put me off!

If only the people around me knew how hard it is to have a weight problem!.... :( They all think it is so easy, but then non of them have a weight issue

Hi Mandy

I totally understand where you are coming from, with other people understanding how it feels to have a problem with food. Nobody I know, is in the same position as me, they just think its all a case of doing a diet and losing weight simple :sigh: Unless someone has had issues with food, theres no way they can know how it feels.

Im sure I remember you from before. Was it you I swapped some CD packs with? I did the same, lost 4st and have regained all but 8lbs of it.

I was due to start CD on Monday but my daughter had been up all night being sick, so didnt feel like a good time, and its my friends birthday on Friday so I have decided to wait til next Monday. I wonder if its just me making excuses as usual, but Im really hoping to get started, I really need to lose this weight.

Just go back to basics, water, water and more water! Space out your packs to suit you, split them in half if it helps. Go to bed early as you can first few days. You know it gets better after that, think your counsellor not being very positive telling you two weeks!

Good luck, and I hope Ill be with you next week!

Mandy (another one :) )

Hi Mandy

No it wasn't me you swapped packs with! Yes i thought of every excuse I could untill I just decided enough is enough! I was really positive before Christmas when I had arranged to do start butt he last few days, I have been dreading it!

The water I am managing it is the packs I don't want to do! Can't bear the thought of having having one, which is why I have been putting it off all day!

I have taken up Suduko so hopefully that will keep be busy! Also take my mind of eating!

Got to do some positive thinking here - having done this before too I never found it to be difficult for the first 2 weeks, to be honest I even found the first couple of days to be okay and I'm hoping that I find it the same way this time (I've started today too). Do sudokus, crosswords, walk, take long baths - do anything that fills your time and takes your mind off food and take it one day at a time.

Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!! Positive thinking.......... I can do this.......... just had dinner - chicken soup! was bearable not as bad as i had imagined.

Hi Mandy Im another Mandy by the way. I know I can do it!!! - you will see me say that alot........:)

I am doing well on the water I think done 2 half litres so far! whihc is good for me as i don't drink it!!!!!! everyone in work is making jokes and teasing me with food, but i am blanking it out!

just got that horrible taste of chicken soup in my mouth......... YUK

Hi girls

I lost 3 stone last year, although I've been pretty good and only put 7lbs on I want to lose 10lbs before I go on my jollies 1st Feb, I am totally abstaining for 1 to 2 weeks depending how long it will take me, but I have this awful feeling I will be lucky if I lose 2/3lbs a week.

Hi - I started back today at an LL Returners class and am feeling very inspired I must say. Have gone back with 2 people from my LL Foundation course last year which is really good and the other people I didn't know seemed lovely too - I find the support of the groups crucial. Didn't really do very well when I tried CD for a few weeks, simply because I needed to be with people in the same boat to encourage me.

At least we know it works even if it is a bit depressing to be back. I have done Weightwatchers several times and lost a stone or two but over 6 months or so and with the unwelcome side effect of being obsessed with food - even more so than when I am generally being a piglet - love the fact that on LL I spend less time and not more time thinking about food.

Ahhhh....love the first few weeks of LL - early nights, long baths, a permanently clean kitchen (only if you don't live with your partner as I don't ), perfectly polished nails and pedicured feet, good sleep, clear skin, more time, more energy and a sense of purpose. Let's hope it continues....

Good luck everyone...here's to 10 days straight abstinence. I can only think that far ahead and divide everything into 10% at a time which is how I coped last time so for me the first goal is going to be 10 days straight.

Hi there

I'm going to be starting my refreshers group next Thursday (17th) Haven't weighed myself since taking a break mid November, but think I have about 2.5 stone to lose. So it's back to total abstinence and then into RtM. From lurking on the boards it seems that 2nd time round can be a bit of a bugger. Good luck to all! Keep posting, keep drinking water, and keep learning.

OMG Mandy this sounds like reading my own story, I lost over six stone in 2006, got ill with gallstones and was in hospital for two weeks when my operation ended in a twisted bowel!! I am now on my second time round with Lighterlife and it IS so much harder the second time around, my counsellor says its in our heads ( not that we are making it up, but its psychologically harder) I have been on the diet since September and had lost three stone four until putting on six pounds over christmas!

keep going for the first two weeks and it does get easier!
Lisa x

Thanks Lisa X Just a question does havign our gall bladder removed make a difference! I am motivational up for doing this!!! even though waiting for the gastric banding does have its appeal.... but i just can't do it pyshically!!! after 4 mouthfuls of any of it i start throwing up!
