Why does he have to cancel his social life???? I didn't. I started LL in June and I have been to weddings, BBQ's, dinner dances and plenty of nights out and lost almost 6 stone. I didn't put my social life on hold I just modified my behaviour for a long term goal which I saw was worth a few months of a changed behaviour.
I managed and to be honest had a great time even without drinking and eating. You are at social engagements to enjoy spending time with people after all and not to eat and drink.
I was never tied in with LL and I paid the usual weekly amount for what I actually picked up that week.
It is a commitment to yourself Paul and I think you do need to be in the right frame of mind to want to help yourself but if you are then there is no reason why you can't lose the weight and lose it quickly. Perhaps is a good time of year as there aren't as many social engagements I guess.
Don't put your life on hold during the program though is my advice.
Good Luck.
I definately agree... putting your life on hold will probably not help in the bigger scheme of things... imagine depriving urself of food and at the same time saying "oh and you can't go out either"
I might have to murder someone if they said that to me
You CAN go out but you just do things differently... For example:
Before: I would go to the cinema in the evening, after having eaten my dinner at home already... buy popcorn, large coke, chocolates, errrm and maybe some pick n' mix... then stroll out feeling stuffed and walk into McDonalds and get a Big Mac meal... with a diet coke because I was feeling bad by this point!
Now: I have shake before I leave home, armed with my bottle of water... stroll off the cinema, watch the film (because thats what I went there for in the first place!!) and come home
You do everything the same, but take food and drink out of the equation
I even managed to go the other week when my friends ate McDonalds!! and I was sitting thinking
I really don't need that BigMac
