CDCs - I need a list of contraindicated drugs please.

Just what is says on the tin really!

After seeing my loss, my friend is desperate to start CD and I have encouraged her all the way. Totally fired up, she called a CDC this week and they have said that one of the drugs she is taking is contraindicated, although the others are fine.

She has an appointment to see her doc on 2nd of Jan and the main part of her agenda is to change her medication to something that is acceptable to take whilst on Cambridge, but we thought it would be useful to take a list of the meds which are not OK.

I'd ask my own CDC, but she is now away until the New Year, and I won't be seeing her until the middle of January because I go away straight after Christmas!

Could any of the CDCs please either fax/email/pm me a list please? I hope this is not against the rules. I'm meeting my friend tomorrow evening and it would be great if I could have it by then.

Thanks in advance

Which drug is contraindicated ?

There is no list to supply as such but if you PM me with the medication she is on and the medical condition she has I can check this out for you.

STBG, I could not disclose that on a public forum. I would hate to think of my pal logging on to this site and seeing that.

As for PMing the name of the medication, I don't think that would help as it would need her specialist to be able to go through the list and find an acceptable alternative. My CDC did show me a list once and I think that this is what I need to get my hands on.

Thank you for the offer though.

I totally agree with soon to be gorgeous. I'm very sorry but you drop a question and you don't wanna pm a cdc who can look this up for you????????

Why isn't your friend doing research her self by the way?

It isn't as simple as looking up the name of the drug, as we already know this is not compatible with CD. What is needed is for her specialist to find an alternative that is compatible. I don't think a counsellor would be able to suggest an alternative medication.

As for her not researching this herself - I offered to ask on her behalf - do you have an issue with that too?

A CDC could check this out. If it is a classification of drug ie an anti-coagulant or a an anti-convulsant for example your friend would never be allowed to go below 1200 cals.

Certain medical conditions would also come into play its not just medication, for example if she had Severe Depression or Severe Kidney or liver disease she would be contraindicated and therefore not be able to use any programme.

CDC's can advise or obtain the relevant information for your friend.
