Did anyone watch "Lose thirty stone or die" last night?

It was fascinating how someone got as big as 48 stone. And then he lost 10 stone with slimming world and had a gastric bypass...I couldn't understand that...he was losing weight so well...why not just carry on?No mention of VLCD's...I was sat there thinking LL or CD would have been ideal for him...fast weight loss and especially on LL counselling too to get to the root of his food issues.

I missed it:mad: Was catching up with a mate/delivering xmas presents. I really wanted to see this as well. Does anyone know if it will be repeated on any of the cable channels?

Yeah i watched it and thoroughly enjoyed it! What a difference in they guy at the end of the program.

I too was thinking he should have done a VLCD but most people have never heard of them. I only came across LL and CD by accident - had no clue about them until a mate told me about her mate that had done LL.

The program made me want surgery. I know i'm just a stone over my original target but i struggle with my demons every day and sometimes do give in to the odd binge. At least after surgery you don't have the choice of bingeing!!

Zoe (Bondgirl) is totally indifferent to food since her op - that's exactly where i want to be!!

I watched it too and thought it was a great programme. What a transformation! I'm with you Karen - I said to my other half that maybe I should have an op but he just dismissed it. I could really do with knowing how to deal with the demons and would love to eat just because it's fuel!

it was lovely at the end when he was comparing things he couldnt do and how snug he said in the toilet etc and now had room, i really felt for him and was picturing it being myself in the months to come and how good i would feel!

WELL DONE COLIN! xx

He did fabulously didn't he

My dentist receptionist said he was on GMTV this morning and he's lost even more now.

Karen: Funny about you mentioning about having the op done yourself. I have to admit that it crossed my mind during the programme. The dream of not having to fight my demons forever:clap:

Will plod on though:rolleyes:

The problem with gastric bypass is that they can never eat much at all.

Surely it is better to be able to eat a proper full healthy meal and to enjoy it than to go through life like that?

Also they get a lot of health problems associated with lack of nutrition, bowel problems, etc.

The guy on the programme last night had been drinking 20 pints of beer a night!

I will stick to CD thank you

It's crossed my mind too but tbh I don't want to be limited to tiny portions for the rest of my life..I want to be able to enjoy a whole apple after I am at goal, or a large salad, or even a pizza once in a while.I don't want to have to take handfuls of vitamin tablets for the rest of my life because I won't be able to absorb the nutrients from food.Or be sick if I eat something sweet.I just couldn't cope with all that.I like my food too much.I know I will probably find it hard at first when I go back to food, but it'll be worth it.
I think it's great he lost so much and is so happy but I do think it's a shame he never tried a VLCD.

I don't want to be limited to tiny portions for the rest of my life..

Agreed. I really want a temporary gastric bypass. 1st - 24th December would be fab as that's my difficult time:eek:

They can then put the rest of my stomach back for the 25-31st Dec. :D

Really was a remarkable story - that guy deserves some serious Kudos not only for going through it - but baring all on national TV.

I think having the attitude that food is only fuel, is not the right one. Blaming the food as the problem is not going to flip the right switches in the brain. I mean, if naturally if food was just for fuel - why would be have taste buds and systems in the brain that register food taste with good and bad emotions?
I only bring this up as on week 7 of my Cambridge saga, I am now realising all the things I've blamed on my size and food in the past - and realising that the problems were with me all along. As PolishRose said - I think it's healthy to have the unhealthy foods now and again, but enjoy every bit of it as opposed to eating for the sake of it.

Lil K, I checked my TV guide for you and the prog is being repeated on 9 January at 8pm on ITV2 and an hour later on ITV2+1. Enjoy!

Missed the very end of this programme so pleased to hear that he lost all the weight....

Did anyone ever see the guy on 'This Morning' who lost about 15-20 stone? His name was Charlie and he was a bingo caller - another remarkable story....

I was SOOOOO happy for the guy on the telly last night. I stayed up way beyond my bed time to watch it.

What a guy and what an inspiration. I was jumping up and down and screaming happily for him. However I too wondered whether he had heard of LL or CD as for sure LL would have helped him with the root of his food habits. I definately have issues and I imagine I'll be just like Karen when I'm at goal ... those demons will keep a callin'!

I really hope he finds love and happiness and has children ....
