115 lbs lost - and maintained for a year

I've just updated my diary thread, but realise not everyone can access member's diaries so thought I'd also announce here that it's exactly a year tomorrow (15th December) when I reached my target weight of 10 st 6 lbs after having lost over 8 stone on CD in the space of 10 months last year (I started in Feb 2006 weighing 18 st 11 lbs).

I weighed myself this morning - as I do every morning - and am currently 10 st 7 lbs. It would be rather nice to be 10 st 6 lbs tomorrow (just so I'm exactly the same as I was this time last year) but I think I can live with being 1 lb heavier :)

In the space of the last year I've been up to 10 st 12 lbs at my heaviest and as low as 10 st 2 lbs, but seem to hover quite happily around the 10 1/2 stone mark which for someone of my height (5'6") is probably about right.

For anyone just starting out on CD, or may be part of the way along their weightloss journey, all I can say is KEEP GOING! It may seem like a long road but it goes faster than you can imagine and the benefits at the end are just so worthwhile.

Of course, the job is never truly 'done' and you do need to change your life-long eating habits to maintain your loss, but the best advice I can give is to keep in mind the golden rule: Nothing tastes as good as being slim feels :D

Good luck to all of you!

Thank you so much for posting Sharon. Such an inspirational post not only have you lost the weight but have kept it off!! It reinforces that it can be done which is so encouraging for people like myself who are on the journey.

Many many congratulations!

Thank you SO much for your post. It is so encouraging to hear of someone who has not only lost weight but has maintained for a year. You have done so well, congratulations.Have you found it difficult to maintain? Any tips to pass on?

Lovely post Sharon. I started at the same weight as you, and ended up at the same weight. Lowest was 10st 4, but I am now 10st 7! It is such a lovely feeling just wish I had done it decades ago. Well done hun xxx

Thanks to all of you!

Cheryl - Many congratulations to you too honey! It does go to show that all those who tell us "Oh yeah, you'll lose weight quickly but you'll put it all back on - and then some! - just as quickly" really don't know what they're talking about eh? :D

Aurora - I do believe it's possible to live a normal life as well as maintain your weightloss - as long as you follow the CD stablisation and maintenance steps once you get to within sight of BMI 25 (your CDC will advise you on those when you get to that stage). Also bear in mind that you can never go back to eating the way you used to before you began your diet or you absolutely WILL regain the weight you lost. After all, that's how you put on weight in the first place.

I've been on holidays abroad, had meals out, weekends away (and the now infamous CD conference ) in the space of the last year and am capable of regaining weight quite quickly - but always revert back to a very sensible and healthy eating program again the moment I'm back home to lose any weight I've put on in that period.

Mich - I'll miss all you guys too! I'll have my phone with me while I'm in India and hope to receive some texts to let me know what I'm missing (especially in Buffalo Joe's ;))

Georgie - thank you so much! Have a wonderful holiday .. and maybe see you in Kerala

CC - erm .. just ... love ya! :D

May I add my voice to everyone here in congratulating you Sharon. I think losing weight is a battle but maintaining it is the war. I'm well impressed and motivated by your ability to maintain your weight loss so well.

Thank you Plus! I honestly believe, after many years of being on various diets in the past (and failed repeatedly), that if I can do it anyone can! :D

Thank you for the advice. It is so good to know that all is possible and can be done.

KD is also an inspiration but don't tell her I said that will you? :D

Happy anniversary

:) Well done Sharon, you are truly inspirational. Let me add to the other comments about how good it is to read about somebody who not only reached goal, but has maintained for a year. Congratulations :)

Congratulations Sharon :clap::party0019:

You are reason that I will keep going Sharon, you have been one of those constant inspirational characters on the boards since I began 9 months ago. I have shed 6 stone and maintained it for about 3 months now and have experieinced the temptation to call it a day now as I feel Ok. BUT , part of me knows that untill I draw a line in the sand and say thats what I set out to do and I will DO IT , I will never have truly achieved something worth maintaining for ever like you.
Thanks for being there, it was lovely to meet you 'in the flesh' by the way at breakfast at the conference, you look amazing.

Thanks so much Holly :)

Now I have to keep focussed and believe that I can maintain for yet another year ... and then another after that ... etc. etc. Just as well we have Minimins isn't it? :D
