OK... I'm on LL so I posted this to the LL forum, but thought maybe some people here could help. so here goes...

Hi All... (I apologise to any nosey blokes in advance who have read this thread!!)

I was 'diagnosed' with secondary amonorraa a few months ago (i cant spell but it basically means my periods are weird and elusive!)... My last period was in December 2006 and since then I have had nothing, including no pain too!

ANYWAY... I've now been on LL for 4 weeks (almost) and I came on after my first week (after losing 11lbs) ... The first week of it was like a "normal" period, then after about 7 days it has now become irregular, like 1 day of bleeding, followed by very light, followed by nothing, then back to regular again.

I am confused... its been about 2 and a half weeks now... Is this going to last forever??!!! (some may say I should be happy 2 see a period after not seeing one for almost a year, but my god, I really haven't missed them!!)

Has anyone else had this??

:sigh::sigh::sigh::sigh::sigh::sigh::sigh:

Thanks in advance 4 responses!! xxx

I found that my cycle became very irregular when I first started LL. I had always been as regular as clockwork beforehand.

It took a while but it did settle down and became regular again. I think your body is just getting used to the mega changes by being on a VLCD!

Mine have become a little irregular and also lasting longer - I think its because of the drastic change and our bodies must be getting rid of lots of toxins and maybe its another way??? If things dont settle I would have a word with your Doctor though as best to get things checked out.

I am the opposite, started SS in Feb then last period in June. Doc said I was on the change (I was 50 this year)but now that I am back to "normal" eating ~ WTF periods start again. Charming. I feel just like you ~ its great when they dont come a knocking !!!!

Oh well the joys of being a woman

It can get better or worse. A lot of your oestrogen hormones are kept in the fat of your belly area. When you lose the fat (which is what we're all doing) it can effect your homeones. I've been on LL for 13 weeks now and only had one TOTM and that only lasted 2 days - pure heaven, and long may it continue!! Others have been regular, some have been really heavy. However, it WILL stabilise once you're at goal and eating normally again.

Hi
My periods have got better which i find great, i am trying to get pregnant which is my main reason for me losing the weight.
my cycle was around 70-75 days long before but now after being on cambridge for 11 weeks i had first one after 42 days and second one after 46 days which to me is fab hopefully this and the weight loss will eventually help me to get pregnant after almost 2 years of trying

Just from a calorie counters point of view I can say I have noticed mine lasting longer. used to be 5 days max, now can go aslong as 8/9 days sometimes.
obviously I'm on reduced calories to what i was normally on and i've lost weight, i didnt think just counting calories and not being on a really low amount, or dieting full time, that it would effect it but it seems to have.
I think anything we do can affect our cycle from being stressed to being happy and everything inbetween...

Mine have been very different too. Used to be very regular - every 30 days or so for 4-5 days. My first period after starting my vlcd was normal duration but 3 weeks later, it started again and lasted for 2 weeks!
