Calling all you horsey people!!

Me, i currently have:

17hh ex racing TB
16hh ISH
14hh Norwiejan Fjord
16.2hh Cleveland Bay

Luv em, they have taken up the last 30 years of my life. My daughter competes (showing) and I am chief mucker outter and lorry driver. Hoping to lose enough weight to get back in the saddle.

I bet you are kept busy Bluebird.

Me. I do endurance riding (won all the novice trophies last year in my group!) and I LOVE it! I have Malachy - an ex-racer (Taro Prince Ire) who is 17hh, 14yrs old bay gelding. Owned him for four years, and he loves endurance too.

This year we're upping our distances, and have planned in a 50km in March, a couple of 65kms in the summer and an 80km at the end of the summer, as well as some two and three day comps where we'll (hopefully) be doing about 120km over the days. Great for weight loss, and spurred me to lose all of this - afterall, the poor thing has to carry this for miles!!!

Deb I really admire you. Good luck this year with your horsey goal.

Thanks ladylite - its nice to have something that me and my boy (horse - not hubby) really enjoy! You literally drags me onto the lorry on a dark Sunday morning and is keen to get going! However, he does sleep all the way home.....poor lad!

Oh Curvey Lass, we produce mainly Natives. I have a website if you want a peek. Needs updating though. WWW.FOLLYWOODSTUD.COM

I think we have a Dales coming to us later in the year.:)

I too have a Dales mare. 14.1 and built like a tank with a leg at each corner. :D Rode out this morning in the pouring rain, clearly left my marbles at home again

I walk to the farm and back twice a day. That totals 70 miles a week plus any other walking I do!!
You have some lovely beasties there ladylite I am drooling over GUINIVERE OF WHITEFIELD :sigh:

Unfortunately they are not mine, we produce them for other people. The only one that is mine is Pentrepiod the Judge. We just have others to help pay for ours, as you know how expensive it is.

Lovely mare. Really good exercise as well. - Keep it up.

Am glad to find other horsey folk here. I have 2 Highland Ponies. A 19 year old mare called Rosie and a just turning 3 year old called Fiadh.

I've not ridden for the past 2 months now due to my weight, as I feel it's too much to ask of Rosie. But I hope to be able to get back to it soon.

Hi Rachel,

What are you highlands called.

Wow - what a horsey bunch we are! Managed my lesson in the dry this morning - my boy was a little star...bless him! Going to try to get out for a couple of hours on the fells tomorrow - but if the weather is going to be as predicted, I may give it a miss and take the dogs for an extra long walk instead!!

Hi DebG

I am now so homesick in a way. I am from SA and I used to have the sweetest little Arab gelding called Reisling. Well I say had he belonged to my vet and I had to do all the work to get him fit for the 100 milers he used to do. (I managed on a thoroughbred stud farm) Since coming to the UK I have only ridden once but I was so embarrased by how big I had gotten that I haven't done it again. I miss being around horses ALOT. I have promised myself I will start riding again as soon as I have reached a decent weight. I can't believe its been 2 years since I last sat in a saddle :sigh:

Hurrah for all us horsey people!

I have Millie a 15.3hh coloured mare.

She's been enjoying the winter turned away, but actually hasn't enjoyed being outside at all. She mostly hangs at the gate till I feel awful and bring her back in again!!

I'll be bringing her back into work again mid feb, and aiming for some hunter trials in April. In the past we've mostly dressaged, but have done ok at unaff sj & xc too. I can't wait to see how my weight loss has affected my riding - hopefully in a positive way.

My trainer has been watching Malachy carefully and says that he's still trying to get used to rebalancing himself now that I've lost nearly 5 stone. She thinks its really lightened his forehand and is helping him to step under himself with more confidence.

Now I feel REALLY bad!!!

Let's hope it will show in faster speeds in his endurance this year. I aimed to go round last weekend in about 8.5kph as it was his first ride after a two months break, but he went round in 10.5kph (whether I wanted to or not ) so he must be feeling well!

Well done Deb. You shouldnt feel guilty you should feel proud, as you could of not bothered.

We are going to a show on Sunday to do some showing.
