Unrealistic expectations?

I lost 3lbs last week. I drink water for england and I do not cheat.

I feel really let down as I was hoping for 5lbs at least.

Am I expecting too much? 3lbs seems more like a slimming world weight loss to me - and you eat real food on that!

I lost 9lbs in my first week and have 6 stone to shift, it all looks so far away.:sigh:

Help!

Thanks

Hello there,
I have been on LL since the end of June and I am getting losses of about 2-3lbs a week. Everyone will lose weight differently and the way I look on it is to take it in small chunks, a stone at a time and every pound lost is just that, a pound lost. I lost 6.5lbs in my first week but you have to look at the end result and to some extent, plod along.
It is hard when you are just at the start but it is worth it. I have said it before and I will no doubt say it many times in the coming months and years but this is the very best thing that I have ever done for myself and I don't regret a minute.
You are doing well and keep it up. You will be very glad you did and don't worry about the numbers, it will even out from month to month.

Don't worry!! And well done, 3lbs is a lot of weight. I was like you, I lost 10lbs in my first week then 4 the week after and I was dissapointed with that but there will be some weeks when you loose 5,6, maybe even 7lbs without doing anything different! Stick at it, it will all be worth it! I have been on LL since 21st May and up to last week I have lost 6 stones 3.5lbs. I never thought I would and at the begining I thought I wouldn't last the 14 weeks but time will fly and before you know it, you'll be 6 stones lighter.

Good Luck and keep up the good work!!:):):):):)

Hi there,

I am in the same boat. I lose about 2.5lbs a week on average. Not big losses but I have lost the three stone in under the 100 days. I get the same frustration though and wish I was losing half a stone a week but it's just not going to happen. It'll take longer but it will come off.

Stick with it. Grit your teeth and take it one pack at a time, safe in the knowledge that it will come off!

xx

Hi there - I had 8 stone to lose and lost it in 200 days. I lost 4.5 stone in my first 100 days - and most people with about 6-8 stone seem to happily lose 4 stone in the first 100 days. These are not Slimming World losses. No way!

I agree with Clopo-3 pounds in a week is great! That's actually a bit more than the "norm" of one or two pounds (of course, that depends on your starting weight and body type and a dozen other things). 5 pounds in a week is a tough loss-that's a burn of over 17,000 calories! Can you imagine what you'd have to do to achieve that? And the smaller you are, the fewer calories you burn for your efforts, so if you don't have a lot to lose to begin with, 5 pounds is nearly impossible to do safely, even taking in water weight.

Congratulations to you-it's great that you saw this progress.

Hello MF - I sympathise with how you feel but I think on this diet we've just got to look to the long term. I've got about 6st to lose overall, and have now lost 3st (I'm on week 13). I've settled into a 'good week, bad week' pattern, but last week (supposed to be a good week) I actually gained! I've never cheated, btw. Then this week I lost nearly 7lbs.

So you may find that next week you lose a lot more, or maybe not. But in the long run you will lose about a stone a month, and that has to be good, doesn't it?

Just hang in there, stick to the rules and fill your head with something else! Best of luck - let us know how it goes next week.

Hi Miss F
I only lost 4lb in my first week and my losses have been fairly small (1.5 to 4lb) each week but I've now lost 2 stone! I lost 7 stone on WW and have put nearly the whole lot back on. The thing that keeps me coming back and paying the money is the things I'm learning each week through CBT. Like you my losses have been at times disappointing (no cheating either!) but I know that I'm being equipped with the tools to never go back to where I was ever again. Best of luck - I have a similar amount to lose as you and I know exactly where you're coming from.

Ok, I have to ask-what is a stone? I keep seeing it and I have deducted that it is a weight meaurement (obviously), but I am wondering what that converts to in pounds. Educate the dumb American, please. lol

Miss F

I lost 6stone in 20 weeks and my losses varied from none to 9lbs! Keep up the good work and you'll do it!
