HI All
My weight has been up and down for the past 20 years from 12stone up to 18 stone but usually around 14-15 stone mark.
I have now lost 2 stone with Slimming world and have another 2 - 2.5 stone to go.
Im just wondering... i can see the size difference in myself but wondering after another 2 stone loss - will i be left with bulges and lots of loose skin etc??
I cant imagine my body being anything like demi moores but wonder what state it will be in??
Any advice much appreciated??!!
Thanks xx

Hi there, I started at 16stone 10lb, now 11stone 13.5lb - I do have a fair bit of loose skin on my stomach and underarms and my boobs look quite deflated. I'm not at target yet and I imagine it will get worse as I lose more weight. I exercise which I think can help to an extent but I don't think i'll be able to get rid of it entirely.

What I will say is everyone is different. I'm a student nurse and so have seen quite a few naked bodies (!) and sometimes you find a woman who has 6 kids and not a single stretch mark whereas others are more prone to it I guess.

I would just advise to try and do some exercise along the way, at least then your muscles are toned and so the skin is not just sitting on top of blubber which will help to an extent. Otherwise, try not to worry. I personally would rather be a healthy weight with my saggy belly than my start weight with no loose skin :)

P.S. I'm 22 and have never been pregnant as age and having children does affect these things! x

As clareel says - I think everyone is different.

8 years ago I lost 7 stone with SW, was in the slimmer of the year finals and had two page spread in Womans Own magazine. I never suffered loose skin I did have a few stretch marks on my arms and around my belly, but these faded drastically over time. I spoke to a few others when I had the photo shoot and at the slimmer of the year awards and it seemed I got away lightly (but they had lost a LOT more than me).

8 years later I have managed to put most of it back on. I have lost 4 stone now and I'm hoping I will get away with it as I did last time - but I swear this is the final time.... I cannot continue to do this to my body

I also believe aesir is right... your body needs time to adjust. Mine did!

I think a lot of it is down to genetics, to be honest. But I agree with aesir - time does work to tighten up the skin! I've noticed a bit of loose skin on my inner thighs in particular, and under my arms, but it's tightened up a lot and is now barely noticeable. I reckon in another year it won't be there at all.

I think if you've already lost 2 stone and haven't had any loose skin, it's probably a good sign!

I've lost 7 stone (or at least I will have once I re-lose the xmas gain) & I have found things are not as bad as what I expected & I put it down to losing weight slowly & steadily giving my body time to adjust & exercising regularly. I started using kettlebells in the Autumn time & found they really helped me to tone up but unfortunately had to stop due to injury. I'm just getting back into them again now & plan to carry on with them regularly. I'm not sure I will have a body like Demi Moores by the end of it but I will certainly try ;)

I've heard exercise, lots of water, and moisturising vitamin E cream helps but I can't speak from experience as I'm nowhere near my goal!

Thanks all for your responses !! I exercise for an hour daily at the gym or swimming so it can only help... just cant imagine not having my belly there but do hope it goes - but agree - its better to be a healthy weight with loose skin thank overweight and unhealthy
Thanks again - and good luck to you all xx

I read online somewhere someone was talking about her loose skin after weight loss and she said "you'll look great in clothes!" so bear that in mind!

I dont know but I cant wait to find out! :D

Exercise does only little to help. A bit of muscular tone may help fill you out a bit to make the skin look nicer... but theres no guarantee. Its all in the genetics. The good majority of people who have lost 8st + will have evidence of loose skin. By keeping yourself hydrated, eating healthy food (and lots of veg) and losing the weight at a safe pace you are doing the best to ensure it will shrink up as well as it can. x
