What to eat in Browns?!

Hi my lovelies ;)

I've had a awful week (& a 3 lb gain :'() and I have to go out to dinner tonight plus my family are, well, horrid when it comes to diets.

I get really moaned at & ridiculed and my dad particularly makes rude comments loudly, even in public. He's always been skinny lol.

But anyway, I thought I'd try planning & see what you wonderful people think :)

We're going to Browns, this is the menu - http://browns-restaurants.co.uk/static/ugc/menus/2011/10/18/2-main-menu-London.pdf. (is ok to post things?! I'm unsure :()

I'm normally a green day only girl, but I'm open to suggestions (I'm not veggie, but I'm not a fan of meat, fish I love though!)

I thought the house salad as a starter but it has an oil dressing & avocado... plus I'm allergic to cauliflower, I'd end up asking for most of it to be removed, or pick it out. Not an idea I'm fond of with the family lol!!

What would you gals & guys do?! Shall I have one last day off plan & enjoy it (terrifying thought!) & be perfect for the rest of the week? It's the lazy option I know... but I can't be doing with the fuss that'll be made if I ask for things without dressings etc :(

It's ages since I went to Brown's - try to enjoy it despite your family!

The house salad looks interesting. Most restaurants are quite used to people asking for "dressing on the side" - I always do because even if I want some of the dressing I like to choose for myself how much I have (don't like a plate swimming in liquid). Yes, it has some avocado, but in a starter there isn't likely to be too much and you can count it as syns. And just leave the cauliflower if you don't like it (personally, I would be leaving the broccoli!).

Asking for the dressing on the side means that no-one can make a fuss because you aren't having it - but you don't actually have to touch it if you don't want to!

Then I would go for the grilled sea bass fillets. You can judge for yourself when it arrives how much of the lentil/pancetta mix you ought to have - you will be able to see if it is very oily, but it probably won't be. And there will probably be some specials on the board, or told to you by your waiter as well, and as long as the fish isn't fried you should be OK.

But the important thing is that you are going out to dinner and it is up to you what to eat. When you are ordering, look at the waiter and smile and tell him or her exactly what you want - don't refer to anyone else. Make it like a private conversation between you and the waiter, and if you smile and are friendly and polite then he or she will be on your side straight away.

If other people start to have a go at you, then either ignore them, or look them straight in the eye and say "this is my dinner and I am having what I want". They can't bully you if you don't let them. Go for it!!

Thanks for the help :D

It was gorgeous & well worth it - I did behave - ish ;) (plus a cosmo & a glass of wine... well it seemed rude not too!!) I've had a really bad week last week so I'm proud I kinda stayed on track.

Definitely going to go again, was delish & good fun!!

The family almost behaved, only a few arguments & I sat away from the trouble makers!! My mum supported me & was good too (she's re-starting SW this week lol).
