i am sure i have seen the thread somewhere but cant be bothered to trawl the posts !!!
just thinking if i can loose 3 lb on prep week , wait and see what friday brings ss...( i know i have lost ). i gather the biggest loss tends to be first week of ss, so after that if i did 790 would i still get decent results.according to my scales.... i have about 1 1/2 stone to loose to get me to 10 1/2 stone. would be happy with that.

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will come along soon but I think the difference is minimal 10-12lbs versus 12-14lb on SS, although some do lose more.

Gx

I did SS for 8 weeks.

Am now into my 4th week of 790.

Have lost 4lbs/4lbs/5lbs on those 3 790 weeks so far.

Hiya, I've been doing 790 for 5 weeks and have lost 18 pounds. I never did SS (just couldn't face it!) and to be honest doing 790 has been a lifesaver as I would have cheated doing SS. This way I get to have a yummy meal at the end of each day. I've also been playing around with it a bit (and prob not sticking to it 100%) but I've still been losing steadily. I guess if I was a bit more rigid I'd loose more but I prefer not feeling deprived because I know that's a trigger of mine, which usually results in me stuffing my face with chocolate!

Here's some stuff I've been eating:

- Chicken breast covered in 0% yoghurt & tandoori powder roasted in the oven
- Prawns stir fried with a splash of olive oil, spices etc
- Steak
-Beef & vegetable stew (homemade but picked out the potatoes!)
- Vegetable soup

I've also been using my milk allowance to have 0% low fat yoghurt as a dessert with a spoon of honey (not technically allowed though!)

The weird thing is that I actually haven't wanted the usual junk I used to binge on - have started to crave a really good salad etc! And it means that you can go out to restaurants which a lot of my social life is centered around but I'm learning to chose the right things to eat now. Though I do have to sit on my hands if chips are served!

I've done 790 since week 6 - i couldnt have ss'd any more than 5 weeks so it has worked for me.

My losses slowed up abit but i think thats because i was getting closer to goal rather than anything to do with 790.

If you think it will help you to stick to the diet then do it.

Well, I know that each person is different, but the basic maths of it is that 1 lb of fat provides approximately 3700 calories. On SS you are taking in about 500 calories. On 790 you are taking in about 290 calories per day extra. That equates to 290/3700 lbs less a day your body needs to get from fat burning - which is about 0.1 lbs a day less you burn. Over a month that will equate to around 3 lbs less lost on 790 when compared to SS.

Thats what the maths shows, and folks doing 790 have said in here many times that their losses come out at around 2 to 3 lbs less a month.

But, we are all different ....

If you stick to 790 you should get similar results to the weights in my signature, only difference may be male/female weight loss.

You've had some really big losses which I don't even achieve on SS. I think you have to be a bit careful that you don't mislead people into thinking they should all achieve these losses. I think another factor to consider is the starting weight - I think the heavier you are the more likely it is that you'll have bigger losses at least for the first few weeks.

I did not intend to mislead, surely when anyone answers a question especially about weight loss it can vary from person to person.

I can only offer comments based on my experience, I say similar results, what I meant was consistent results as long as you stick to the diet - my weight losses were fairly consistent.

Think I will go back in my box...................

You have had some terrific weight losses and you should be proud. I think you have had great losses as you are male and men (lucky lot) always lose weight faster than women.
You did point out there would be differences for male/female weight losses.
Well done on maintaining too :)

Update since I had a weigh-in today.

I have now lost 14lbs in four weeks of 790!!

Am really enjoying it too!

Am having 100g of fat-free yoghurt in place of the 1/2 pint skimmed milk allowance. Had some for tea with a tiny bit of the Summer Berry Water Flavouring added and it was gorgeous!
