Health issues hindering weightloss

Hey there, does anyone else have health issues that make losing weight difficult?
I have an under-active thyroid so my metabolic rate is virtually non-existent. I have only just started to lose weight and have done okay so far, but every week that I get on the scale and lose weight I am really surprised .
But I am determined to keep going even if it takes me years to get to my healthy goal weight!
Would love to hear/share stories with you all, so we can motivate and keep each other going.

Hi emmaholl, like you i have an underactive thyroid (actually have no thyroid as i had it removed 4 years ago!) i thought i would really struggle to lose weight, havnt been doing ww long, but have been losing on average 2lb a week, so it is possible.
The slow but sure approach seems to be the way to go, so as long as we are losing i dont think it really matter how long it takes.
Good luck, and keep in touch, just keep saying 'i can do this' :)

Hi Ladies

Hey Loubie and Dizzidee,
Thanks for the encouragement, I'm doing okay so far - weigh in on Monday!
Loubie - having under-active thyroid and PCOS - poor you, that can't be easy.
I hope we can keep in touch and motivate each other :D.

I have prolapsed discs which hinder weight loss when back pain flares up- inflammation central and depression which makes me inhale chocolate at a scary rate!!!

But every Half pound makes a difference!

Hey there Nomes,
Back pain can be debilitating - I occasionally get a bit of sciatica and that is bad enough. I feel for you.
Big shout out to us all :party0019: for keeping going with the weight loss despite our failing bodies!!
Keep up the good work!

Since May I've had hip problems (GP doesn't know what) and found it painful to walk let alone exercise. BUT I've found recently swimming doesn't hurt so I can do that :) May to July was hard to get to goal and it was in July when they flared up so bad I was bed-bound most of the day. Since July I've fluctuated in my gold range (9st 7 - 12) but I haven't lost any more to get to my goal of 8st 10.

No, I asked for one but the physio I saw didn't want me to have one because of radiation and being a girl  and the GP later said it wouldn't get picked up because it's not my bones even though it hurts in my joints. She thinks it might be inflammation caused by my tiny vitamin D deficiency. I've been put on a high amount of vitamin D (so high I take 2 tablets a month) and since my second dose yesterday I've actually been okay but as I've had odd days with no pain, I'm not crossing any fingers :(

I've been examined for the same thing- I've prolapsed discs so thought the pain was back related but doc examined me and said its inflammation- try voltarol x

Hello
I've got under-active thyroid and on Thyroxine. Although the medics tells us there's no reason we shouldn't lose weight normally, everyone I know with this condition has problems losing!
I'm also on Zoladex injections for 6-9 months and a side effect is weight gain aaarrgghhhh!
Its so great to have support of others with obstacles in their way....

Keep going strong 'girls', whether we have good or bad days, just remember that with all the support and encouragement on here you are not alone xxx

Hey there Scoobs, :D
I've not had any issues so far with losing weight (but only on my 4th week), but keep expecting the scale to bite me back! I try to have protein first thing in the morning (eggs) and I find this give my metabolism a boost for the day!
Hope you're having a good week!

I was on the injection (depo) for 2.5 years- first one was at 150 lbs (10st 10) and most recent 133 lbs (9st 7lbs). :)

Hey ladies,

Hope you're having a good week.
I lost 1lb tonight :D so at least the weight is still coming off despite my under active thyroid. Giving myself a goal of 2lbs this week to get me under the 21 stone mark!
