Oat so simple

pizzle84

I will do this!!!
In group last week the temp consultant said something about this porridge and wondered what others have been told or think. So 27g of plain oat so simple is a HEXB and she said we could have a flavoured one as a HEXB and just add the extra syns to our day. So......
plain 5 syns
golden syrup 6.5 syns

So she said i could have golden syrup as a HEXB and then add the other 1.5 syns to my day.

What do you guys know about this?

Hiya,

I've heard this can't be done as although it's still porridge because of what's been added it "takes away" some of the fibre and goodness.

What my consultant advised is get the plain one as a HExB and use a tbsp of Golden Syrup at 2 syns instead.

I did that this morning but they've just brought out some new flavours that i wanted to try and thought it would be perfect if what she said was true.

Are you talking about the Chocolate Brownie one? That one has been calling to me from the shelf every time I go to Asda but I just don't want to risk trying it in case it's amazing and I have to have it every breakfast!!!

Thats the one!!! i dont think i can resist any more :(

AS far as I know you cannot use one of the flavoured ones and just syn the extra bit, it is only the plain one that counts as a HEB.

I don't blame you! Tell you what I did the other day though with my porridge.

I was craving chocolate but didn't have a huge amount of syns left. Still had my HExA and HExB. Made my Oatso Simple plain porridge, got a tsp of nutella and stirred it through. I couldn't eat all of it it was so rich in the end! Might be an alternative?

Somebody on here suggested putting an options chocolate sachet into oat so simple to make it chocolatey and then it would only be 2 syns plus your HEXb

thanks for the advice guys. Not sure why a consultant said you could do this though :(

I think different Cs get certain things slightly different. For example... many consultants would say that you can HExA your milk when you go to a coffee shop. My C says that you can't and you should syn it.

I would personally either go for do it as your C says for a week and see how that goes, if it goes wrong then you'll know what the issue is and you can rectify it pretty much immediately or avoid completely/syn it traditionally to be safe.

I'm brand new to the forum and just started back on Slimming World after 12 year absence. I mentioned Oat so Simple to the councellor and she said it would take up both healthy options with the cereal and milk, so I'm going to have to carefully consider it. Just as an aside in my non SW life I always used to add a tablet sweetener to the plain Oat sachet and it improved it greatly.
