I'm stuck!

Hi :wave_cry:

Please can anyone help?

I've been following the EE for 5 weeks now and lost 2lb per week in the first 3 weeks, which was more than I lost in 3 months last time I joined SW! However, i was having Hovis wholemeal bread and thought if I swapped to WW I might loose more. Hmm ... I haven't lost a pound in 2 weeks!

I am not going to class this time as my work pattern makes it impossible and it just makes me more hungry!

My typical diet is:
B: 1 slice wholemeal bread toasted with minimum amount of low fat spread and marmalade.
L: 2 slices wholemeal bread, no spread, with 2 slices of thin ham, lots of lettuce and a tomato. Muller light yoghurt.
D: An EE recipe with no more than 1.5 syns from a SW recipe book or magazine. This always includes plenty of veg or I add it.
Snacks: Muller light yogurt, carton of fresh chopped fruit from supermarket, 2 bananas.
Drinks: 4/6 coffees with skimmed milk allowance, one glass of water, one Oxo drink.

Can anyone please point out anything I am doing wrong? I really don't want to loose heart this time!

Thanks.

What size bread are you using? A 400g slice will be 3 syns or half a HEXB, an 800g slice will be twice that. Syns probably 3 or 4 for the marg, plus more for the marmalade. You really need to measure things as a *level* tsp is hardly anything, you might be surprised to find youre actually using quite a bit!
Generally not the best breakfast choice, especially if your also having bread for lunch and youre on EE, which is supposed to include 1/3 superfree! How about fruit & yoghurt? Or if you want something more filling try lean bacon/low syn sausage and/or beans with tomatoes, mushrooms etc? Theres not really *anything* good for you in toast, marmalade and margarine other than fibre in the bread which you would get anyway with the other two options I suggested.

L: 2 slices wholemeal bread, no spread, with 2 slices of thin ham, lots of lettuce and a tomato. Muller light yoghurt.

Again depends on the bread size but that's at least one HEXB for the bread and even 'lots of' lettuce & tomato would not even come close to filing me up - you must be starving?!

Snacks: Muller light yogurt, carton of fresh chopped fruit from supermarket, 2 bananas.
Drinks: 4/6 coffees with skimmed milk allowance HEXA one glass of water, one Oxo drink.

One carton of fresh fruit is not enough IMO, that like eating about one apple or something. Its OK if youre in a rush but youd be better off having a mass of free/superfree snacks around you at all times - have a big bowl of fruit with you at work that you can graze on all day, or take free stuff like veggie crusites, free hummus, sliced lean meat, lentil/bean salads or whatever it is that you like.

OK a few things:
- Healthy Extras: If you're doing EE you're going over on your HEXes or 'wasting' syns on them. On EE you get one HEXA and one HEXB - you're using your HEXA on milk for coffee which is fine but depending on what size bread you use you can have up to 2 slices for a HEX. A 400g loaf gives you 2 slices as 1 HEXB, an 800g loaf is only just over 1 slice. You can use them as syns of course, but I dont know many who think bread is 'worth' synning. Youve also spent probably 3 or 4 syns on margarine, plus at least a couple more on marmalade. I know you say it's 'only a scrape' but it does all add up. Measure a *LEVEL* tsp and youll see how little it really is.
- Quantities: Also whilst its hard to judge without seeing quanities and specifically what meal your eating at night but I would guess you're eating NOWHERE NEAR enough - fill yourself up properly, pad EVERY meal out with fruit and veg and free food
- Superfree: Other than your dinner you're eating the wrong kind of food - eat loads and LOADS of superfree - fruit and most veg. It contains naff all c*lories and seriously fills you up. If you're still hungry eat free food - lean meat, beans, pasta, rice - NOT bread and jam and margarine. On EE you're meant to eat 1/3 Superfree at *every* meal - that includes breakfast.

You wont lose any more weight purely by swapping bread types! Although do make sure you're sticking to something which counts as a HEX - ie wholemeal (or a brand listed as a HEX) and the right amount (ie not multiple 800g slices etc)

If you're hungry you're very definitely not eating enough! Theres no reason at all to be hungry on SW, there masses of stuff you can eat for free.

How much have you got to lose btw? Youve done excellently for the 1st 2 weeks, 2 lb is exactly what your supposed to lose. Have you done anything differently the last 2 weeks?

Might be good to regularly post a proper, full food diary in the relevant room, loads of us do it and its really helpful to see where you're going wrong and yot get ideas for meals from other people. Good luck x :)

If you are following Extra Easy, you seem to be having too much bread, unless you are counting the extra slice as syns.

You could eat a lot more for breakfast - a bit of toast is not really enough to get you through to lunch. You say "minimum amount of low fat spread" but are you measuring/weighing it? And counting it as syns?

Also, your lunch seems a bit small. Nothing wrong with lettuce, but there are more interesting and filling things to have - what about adding some carrot sticks or slices of pepper? Maybe a hard-boiled egg with the ham in the sandwich?

And are you drinking enough?

I don't think you are doing anything really wrong, but you could probably do with eating and drinking a bit more.

Id be starving if thats all i ate.
Bread - every 57g is a HEX B (equals 2 400g slices or 2 800g slices (if you cut off the crusts it weighs the same)
Instead of low fat spread - try an extra light laughing cow triange (only 1 syn each) then could have with beans (which will fill you up)
Lunch - rather than sandwich every day what about bowl of pasta with bit of prawn, chicken of ham thrown in - add peppers, mushrooms onions etc

Also MEASURE out your milk allowance. I drink skimmed and can only get 4 MAX brews out of my allowance so you could be going over your HEX A without realising it.

SW works, but on the HEX's you have to be EXACT with the measurements/weighing

hi hun have to echo what everyone else has said but how about looking at other s/w diaries to get more ideas on what to eat each day, re the milk you might be like me i only have a capful of milk in my tea have just counted how many cups i get for my 250ml semi skimmed milk ........ 28 cups yay but i usually use 200ml for a latte then the rest on tea. good luck xx
