Bleeding gums

I've been on Dukan for 13 weeks and for the past week or two I've noticed my gums bleeding every time I brush my teeth. I'm not doing anything different i.e not a new brush or toothpaste so I wonder if this could be a Dukan side effect.

Has anyone else experienced something similar or could recommend any additional supplements to help this?

Not experienced this myself but have been taking extra vitamin C - used to eat a lot of fresh fruit and was concerned that the limited range of just veg would cause problems.
Have you been brushing teeth a lot? Perhaps you should see dentist for a check- up?

I often get this but it's not dukan related its been happening for years, not sure why but the dentist says everything's fine. Perhaps ur just brushing too hard be careful my mums boyfriend had to get false teeth at 47 just from brushing too hard!

Say what???

My brother is a dentist and I have never heard of loosing your teeth for brushing too hard!. He must have had some complications plus infections and he was too late to have them fixed.:(

Whatever the case, to the OP... bleeding gums is not a good sign at all. Please do go and check with your dentist just to make sure you don't have something that can later develop into an infection and then get receding gum lines etc.

I'm not sure what happened exactly but I think he left going to the dentist long overdue he's got a bit of a phobia, so they could probably have been saved but brushing too hard was definitely what caused the problems!

Hello everyone I am a Dentist! Bleeding gums is a sign of gum disease. See your dentist to check nothing is underlying and then see your dental hygienist who will help you treat and prevent any further problems.
Get flossing!

Hi Jade, yes brushing too hard can cause problems he probably did not noticed anything wrong at first and left it too late... it makes sense, poor thing!:(

Thanks toothfairy for your input hopefully Vixx will see it and will have it checked up.

By the way I do floss every day;)
