Extra Easy To flex or not to flex...

Afternoon all
Have a little query I could use some help with...last night after loosing 3.5lb my oh & I had a few drinks to celebrate. What was meant to be 2 glasses of wine ended up being about 6 and then a chicken shish on the way home (no sauce, lots of salad and I did manage to resist pinching any of OHs chips and cheese)
My question now is do you think I should just flexible it, I'd estimate about 45 syns but hadn't had any others during the day, or should I try and balance it by being good for next few days to compensate? I'd really like a loss this week as only need 1/2lb to get my stone award...
Any advise gratefully received!!

I would flexi syn it then if you can save a few syns each day do that too, thats what I've done this week.

What you are talking about is weekly syns and not flexi-synning which is something completely different. But yes it would be absolutely fine to cut back on your syns for a few days to make up for last night. Just don't go to the extreme and go syn free - make sure you still have a reasonable number of syns left to play with each day.
 
What exactly IS flexi-synning? I keep reading about it and get a bit confused. Am I right in thinking it's just going off plan for a night?
 
Not quite. If you have a big event coming up you work out IN ADVANCE how many syns you are are going to allow yourself - be it 30. 40, 100 or whatever. On the day you could your syns as normal and when you reach your limit you stop synning. next day you get back on plan as normal, usual number of syns without cutting back. You have to accept that you may not lose that week but the benefit is you stayed in control of your eating instead of giving in and eating anything and everything. it is very different to having a binge and then deciding after the fact to flexi syn - in that instance you are clearly not in control of what you ate.

Ok, so what would you recommend for someone that wasn't in control for one night?
Write the night off and carry on each day with 15syns or try to claw some back throughout the week?
 
Flexi synning is where you give yourself an upper limit for an event or evening or whatever, and stick to that limit. You work out how many you think you'll need and stick to it. You may not get a loss that week, but you'll still be in control and that's what it's all about.

If I were you, I'd either write it off and stick to plan for the rest of the week, or reduce your syns for the week by 45 thus giving you between 25 and 60 for the rest of the week.
 
Hi guys, I've found this thread really helpful as I was unsure what flexi-syns were...... I'm out this Saturday night with my boyf celebrating my birthday and I already know now that I'll go way over my syns...... Food isn't a problem but vino is!!! :) however I now feel better thinking that I know I'm gonna have a good day/night out and if I gain I gain...... I was a bit worried about not having any syns for the rest of the week as that's when I'd be likely to lose the plot and binge!!!!! Haven't had a s****y meal/night out for ages so I'm gonna look forward to it, stop worrying about syns and enjoy myself!!!! Thanks peeps :) Xxxxx
