Do food diaries work?

Hi everyone, I definately have to lose my excess bulk this time. I have my daughter's wedding to look forward to in April and want to be a much slimmer version of myself. But more importantly my cardiologist says that this is my next step, nothing will improve with my condition unless I lose this weight! :sigh:
I lost 2st at the beginning of the year but then just messed about over summer though thankfully not gained any. I have now come back to SW and been told about this forum which I find to be the best thing since sliced bread (wholemeal 400g of course).
However, although I am motivated and positive at the moment have those of you who write diaries found it helps to keep the momentum going? I have read some of them and they are so inspiring. I doubt I will be inspiring but does it help to just write it all down???

Hiya, I'm fairly new here although an oldie to SW.

I've always kept a food diary - but I've gone public with it! I find it very helpful :)

Keeping a personal one was fine, but I only had myself to answer to, which meant cheating & lying to myself... very easy to do!! Putting it on here means I feel I have to be honest, open & I can't skip a day if I feel lazy. Sure, I doubt anyone will be excited by it, if they even look at it, but I feel like I have someone else to answer to besides myself :D

I'd recommend trying it & see what you think! People are very supportive & helpful on here so it can only be a good step if you think it'll help :)

Hi there, I'm still quite new to this but have found doing my food diary really helps:
1) it tends to make me plan my meals more
2) you get lots of handy tips from others on here
3) if you have made a mistake it's usually spotted which always helps

For me the support from others on here really helps motivate me and keep me on track especially when I'm tempting to give in to temptations!!

Give it a go......
