Day 3 and I got to half 9 this evening and eaten fish fingers, oven chips and peas!

I feel so crap - was doing so well and I just couldnt stop myself straying off the shakes. It's so hard!

What shall I do? It has made me re think the whole cambridge diet. I NEED HELP!

You've come to the right place for help and assistance in your time of need!

However please remember this 100% section is for members whom are avoiding off diet references.

Day 3 is notoriously difficult. Have you clearly set out why you started the diet? I listed out loads of reasons - which I read everytime I'm struggling.
They're posted on the main Cambridge page (entitled WHY WHY WHY). Have a read, and see if any are relevant to you.
Cambridge is very difficult. Its not for everyone. If after thinking about it - you want to stay - have a good think about whether you'll find SS or SS+ or 810 easiest to stick to.

Good luck whatever you decide.

Sorry - I find this website very confusing in where to post! Thanks I'll have a read x

If you are going to find the SS too difficult it's definitely worth giving the SS plus or the 800 a go. I only lasted a day and a half on SS and then went to the SS plus. Some days I do SS but not very often. I have lapses sometimes but try not to say oh well that's it might as well give up. I've done that too often in the past. Good luck on what you decide.

i don't know how practical it would be - but could you make sure there were no convenience foods like that in the house. I presuming you don't live alone, so can't clear all the decks - but if you only had the makings of something you'd have to knock up from scratch, it would be harder and take longer to cheat.

also - if you're hungry, have another pack. much, much better idea than going off plan. or, as mary says, you could consider SS+

I often read this board and very rarely respond but appreciate how you are feeling, however...

The main success of the diet is all about slashing calorie intake and forcing your body to use its own fat reserves as fuel. Now, you've had oven chips, peas and fish fingers - whilst not being inline with the diet restrictions i'd put money on that meal being a lot 'better' than your usual food that has led up to attempting Cambridge?

Long and short, it will delay ketosis and depletion of glycogen but a) the calories consumed are probably an improvement on a typical meal and b) you'll still be losing weight providing you didn't eat a truck load, just not inline with the rapidness of SS.

Worst thing you can do is let it play on your mind! I'm sure the unnecessary guilt will spur you on further but in the grand scheme of things you've probably set ketosis 1 day back which is no biggie :)

Hiya, thanks for replying. 1 day back? I can deal with that. I've just been on Facebook and looked at the last time I was slimmer which was 2008 - I looked like I was having loads of fun!

So I'm back on it tomorrow, dedicated and if I feel like I'm gonna go off track, I'll go for a walk or come for a moan on here! The meal wasn't even that nice! I'd much rather have had a smoked salmon salad if there was an option but it was just there in the freezer.

Thanks for your support x

CuppaT talks a lot of sense - guilt is the WORST. I know it's ruined every diet attempt I've done in the last year! Oh I'll just have one...then a bit later, well I've already cheated/wasted today so I might as well have a cake too, and then you end up feeling fat and thoroughly bad.

I think the key is trying to be a bit more philosophical - you weren't bad, you just ate something you hadn't planned on. Look at what happened and try to think of ways to prevent it in the future, but don't beat yourself up about it and don't let one bad meal turn into ten! :D
