Hi All

Decided if I expose my eating to the world it will keep me motivated and maybe give inspiration and ideas to others!!

I decided on Dukan after reading lots and then getting the book. I have previously done a variety of diets - slimming world, cambridge, lighterlife, w/w - all with differing success but I seem to get to around 13 stone and my inspiration wains and its a slow creep back up the scales.

SO after having a word with myself and dusting the book off after reading it and putting it on the shelf I am now raring to go!

I have been keeping a written diary of my meals so if I need to I can look back and think - yep I really liked that meal. I will update here later to show you my first 3 days. This morning I was disheartened as only lost 2.2lbs over 3 days - am putting this down to the rather large choc and nut bar I had before starting on Sunday. Probably did not register when I weighed first thing monday morning!! Anyway onwards we go - had steak for breakfast - was meant for tea but hey!

Loving everyones posts - they keep me focused and the menus are great for something different.

Hi Charlies Mummy,

just to say hi and send you some happy slimming thoughts. thanks for your post on my diary looking forward to sharing swapping recipes ;)

Hi Charlies mummy
I started on Monday this week and am finding it all quite bearable, looking forward to introducing the veggies again now though.
How do you set up your profile at the left, I can't seem to find it.
Thanks.

Hi Charlie's mummy,

I'm a mummy of a little girl named Charlie

Well done on your first few days on Dukan, I think just over 2lb loss is pretty good,.

As promised I am going to share my first few days food intake:

Monday:
B - Dukan porridge,
L - Chicken breast
T - Tuna omelette

Snack - 6 crab sticks, f/f yoghurt and some chicken

Tuesday 1st November
B - Dukan porridge and some scrambled eggs (woke up ravenous and unusually early for me)
L - 2 chicken thighs
T - Mackeral

Snack - 6 crab sticks and some f/f yoghurt

Wednesday

B - Dukan Porridge
L - Chicken and cottage cheese
T - Turkey rashers and eggs poached

Snack - 4 crab sticks and some f/f yoghurt

Today have had:

B - Steak (mmm was meant for tea and I ate it - was lovely)
L - Chicken and cottage cheese
T - Mince turkey with curry spices and chill and a swirl of f/f yoghurt - will either have a galette with it or put oat bran in my yoghurt!

Oh and today I went to the golden arches and resisted temptation!! Felt quite smug with my black coffee - as usual my daughter left a fair bit and previously I would mine sweep it up like a little dustbin but today it went in the bin!

Previously I would clear up any leftovers - I thought it was a waste. But I was the bin and hence pounds of rubbish down my throat meant pounds on me. I think a lot of this is making me think about things more. I was also a devil for eating in the car - go shopping (as I did today) and end up eating a large bar of chocolate, or a few packets of crisps, or a couple of sausage rolls. Not hungry at all - and sometimes you actually forget eating it.

I avoid giving my daughter sweets as treats - she gets stickers and colouring books. I remember getting curly wurlys and ice buns!!

Like I said I went shopping today and got a huge amount of GOOD food ie natural and unprocessed. I was actually very surprised by it. Every little helps has 4 packs of meat/fish for 12 pounds which is great plus I managed to get reduced turkey mince (4 packs I cleaned it all out) and some reduced salmon (3 packs of that so 6 pieces). Freezer is bulging but I know this is good, au natural and not processed is far far better. Looking forward to a start on veggies - was looking longingly at them today! lol I love all veg so should be good with those.

well done for resisting the temptation of McD's. I went food shopping today and the freshly baked bread smell was a killer so instead of getting something naughty I munche on smoked mackerel fillet as i packed the car.

Good luck for today when does you Cruise phase start? I start mine on monday.

I start cruise on MOnday although getting myself in a panic

I weighed Thursday morning and had only lost 2.2lbs - put it down to binging sunday nite. Now tonight I weighed and only 1lb down:eek:
I am hoping this is down to drinking a lot of water today about 2 litres and plus I normally weigh am. If not I dont know where its all falling apart.:sigh:

Have had today -
B - yoghurt and oat bran
l - chicken and a boiled egg
t - 3 salmon fillets (quite small so needed 3 as v hungry)

Plus like I say 2 litres of water - maybe I am having too much water?? I am going to keep off scales until Monday morning otherwise I do get addicted and it affects my day I think. I think I just need to persevere and like everyone says it will work.

I love going shopping as I do love food - cooking for other half not too bad he keeps having left overs so the same meal for 2 days lol

Tomorrow having turkey rashers and egg for brekkie
lunch I think a galette with some fish
Tea - chicken thighs marinated in some curry and yoghurt and chilli

Stay strong - week gone really quick!

Keep going Charlies Mummy, good idea to stay off the scales as you say they affect your day. If you always weigh in the morning stick to that as your weight can increase throughout the day naturally and you will not have a true reading. Golden rule for me is to weigh the same time of day once a week!!!!

hi Charlies mummy,

i would like pp said stay off the scales till you've finished attack phase as your only demoralising yourself, i don't think your drink too much water as the dukan book suggests up to 3 ltr a day.

i weigh myself at the same time and in roughly the same clothes. first thing on an empty tummy in my pj's. i've found i can weigh up to 4lbs heavier on an evening!!

did you do the questionnaire on the dukan website? it estimates your weight loss for the attack phase and cruise phase. Don't get dis-heartened it'll al come together at the end. good luck for today :)

Just weighed myself and put on 5lbs:eek::eek::eek::eek:

Then realised my crafty daughter had her foot on the scales - jeese I nearly flipped!!

But i weighed again and another pound off - 3lbs in 5 days so am ok with that. Yes I wish it was more but I know from other diets I dont tend to lose a lot to start but I do plod on at a steady rate.

Was going to make turkey rashers and egg for brekkie but decided to try a gallette - sweetened with aspartame and cinammon and nutmeg - although it broke in half when I went to turn it over it was delicious. Much nice than I actually imagined - a bit like having a pancake without any lemon or orange on it though!

I am just marinating some chicken thighs in some natural yoghurt and spices and chilli for dinner. Maybe some tuna for lunch or may pop to tesco- they have steak on offer at moment I think

Feeling really good at the moment :D:D:D

oooh just realised I am into the 70's bracket in pounds - thats good, if I can get into the 60's bracket before xmas will be a happy - little things motivate!!!

I haven't got the book yet off hunting it down today but started yesterday could you tell me how to make the gallete please x

Hi Nicola,

Its in the recipe thread but basically a tablespoon and half of bran, tablespoon and half of quark or f/f fromage fraise, aspartame (canderel etc) and an egg (leaving out the yolk if cholestrol issues) - mix together and cook. Its a bit like a pancake - cooks 2 -3 mins each side. Leave out the sweetener and add some fresh herbs or something is you want it savoury - good for wraps by the look of them. I also added cinnammon and nutmeg but I guess any herbs will work depending on whether having it savoury or sweet.

Just had two lovely steaks for dinner - I went to the shops for a paper and more eggs and they were on offer. Looked lovely and now they are gone. Oooops only£3 for the two which seemed good value.

Now having to tackle the ironing....... will distract me from food thoughts. Just gave my little one a mini muffin :jelous: - looked lovely and I thought surely a little cake wont hurt but I know what happens, 1 cake, then 1 little brioche, some toast and some crisps and before you know it disaster.

THE CAKE WILL NOT WIN!!!!!! :p

Having tried absolutely everything diet wise, I went to a hypnotherapist and although it may not have worked for me totally the one think he taught me was that I was in control of the situation, the cake will only win if you let it!!! LOL x

I weighed this morning and now 5 pounds down in total - which is what Dr D predicted and I still have today to go!!!! Woo hoo:D:D:D

I changed yesterday and had the turkey rashers and egg for tea - was delicious and as we were going out to watch fireworks I knew I needed something to avoid the inevitable hunger then eating convenience things ie chips, hot dog etc.

On the way home dear oh wanted take away tea. I made him get a curry and although he had the full works - I succumbed to just a chicken tikka starter. I made my self some yoghurt dip when I got home for it with f/f yoghurt and some herbs from cupboard it was delicious and just enough to make me feel like I had not missed out.

This morning I made a sweet gallette for brekkie and the oh said mmm I fancy that - so I gave him it. Made another one for myself and forgot sweetener - and then burnt it a bit poop, plus little one also wanted it!!! ITS MINE

Had some mackeral for lunch but felt really forced to get it down - going to have chicken for tea. Not really snacking much as dont get hungry - have ditched the crab sticks as I think they were affecting me to begin. Looking forward to some veggies so much tomorrow.

Just going to try and make a salmon pate - am sure I made one ages ago with some natural yoghurt and stuff. We will see!!!

Happy I have kept to it and its not felt too tough either. I have read not to go mad with veggies so will restrict them a little. A small salad or veg sticks at work then a few with my chicken in the evening.

Loving the gallettes cant believe I went nearly the week without one!!!:(

hi Charliesmummy.

So pleased for your weight loss!! I had the same problem this morning with the galette i made the toddler wanted it!! never mind I also can't believ i went nearly 5 days without trying it it was delicous!! hee hee Bring on the veggies tomorrow :)

:)Well done with what you have achieved so far, be proud of yourself. Lots of people on here seem to find crabsticks make them stall! Also, don't restrict veg or you'll struggle with "transit issues" (I'm being polite!). Just keep reminding yourself which veg is lowest carb - i.e. copious quantities of salad leaves but little carrot. Butternut squash is lovely instead of mash!

Thank you caledonia for the polite notice!! Much appreciated. Had a quick look and think I found a list in an atkins sight of veggies which are high and low in carbs so going to try and print that off and base my choices on that. Wanting to try and make a nice curry with onions, spices, tomatoes and peppers.... mmmm

Just had chicken and cottage cheese for tea. Getting a little bored of pp days now and def need some veg. Had good intentions of making stuff today but got taken over by other things. Made some sugar free jelly up - little one also wanted that too!! Eaten most of it - satisfied desire for some dessert. Got a bit of headache today - had enough water might be caffeine withdrawal only had 2 cups!!:eek: Not like me - love my caffeine.

Week done - not torture at all am sure I can motivate myself to stick with this. I have a long cruise phase ahead (Dr D recommends my ideal weight is 11st 1 but I want 10st!) that still a v long way so I will be looking for variety menus to keep me going
