Eeek! Job interview!

Argh! I've just had a phone call from Tesco saying that I've been offered an interview for tomorrow! Soooo excited, but also very nervous :jelous:

Due to random circumstances and poor health, if I get it, this will be my first employed job! I so hope I get it, I'm sick of being on benefits, I want to work!

Argh, I'm bouncing around hysterically at the moment!!

:gimi:

congratulations and good luck

Thanks everybody! I'm all prepared and just need to wait another 40 minutes before I leave the house....it's the waiting that's killing me!!

Hope your interview is going well. x

It seemed to go really well! I was being interviewed for an hour

She asked me about events which had happened in my life which had required teamwork, drive and self sacrifice...it was pretty tough to think of situations when all the time your brain's going 'ARGH!' but I think my descriptions were ok.

I hope the stuff outside the questions helped though. True to my usual style, we digressed and talked about loads of Tesco related stuff, but also about her and her career progression. Her face lit up when she realised how flexible I am, and also when I asked if there was any training for instore jobs such as first aider etc.

I just hope that she sees I have real enthusiasm!

Relieved to be home now, just got to wait a day or so to find out if I've got it!

That sounds like a brilliant interview.
I have worked for Tesco before and I know their tactics, so It sounds very promising from what I have read, I really hope you get it! What is the job position for?

I originally applied for 2 roles (we've got a new store opening in my town :) ) checkouts and clothing. She rang and asked if I'd be interested in cigarettes and lottery instead, with a potential progression to customer services. So if I get it, that's what I'll be doing!

Kell, how did you find working for Tesco? The staff seemed nice from who I actually talked to!

I found working there really fun and made alot of friends. I started there whilst i was at college so was just part time but i was then trained to do so much else. I.e. i started on kiosk (Cigarettes lottery), then got trained on customer services as its the same area, then checkouts, then checkout supervisor, reception, stock take on ambient foods.
Its probably the only job ive had where ive felt truly happy and had no *****yness.
If there are ever any problems they have a union who helps so much!
Of course this is just my experience from the store i worked in so could be different but as you said you got a good vibe from the staff so it sounds similar.
What i will say also is, if your offered the job and when you order your uniform, get a size bigger than you currently are as they can come up a little tight, and also the more informal look uniform they have now (polo shirts and trousers) are far more comfortable than the formal shirts and skirts look, and have more give in them.:D

Wow, sounds like Tesco was great for you :)

I honestly want to work there. Yes I might be hitting desperation point, but after seeing the people and meeting my 'could be' manager, I think it seems like a decent place to work.

You certainly seem to have tried your hand at loads of different areas! What do you do now?

Haha, I was wondering about the uniform. At this rate of losing weight I'll need a new one before Christmas, and the store only opens on the 5th December!

That gives you a nice amount of time to lose weight before you start! :) When you order your uniform if it doesnt fit you can always return it and re order and just carry on wearing your own smart uniform.
I know work in a office for South East Water doing admin work.
Not really what I want to do but its money at the moment, but i did leave Tesco in march to do a specific type of care and hated it so i got offered this job and said yes immediately. I did ask Tesco to up my hours to full time but unfortunatley they couldnt so had to go elsewhere.
Our store is expanding but its been saying that for months so who knows, but id love to be a manager in tesco somewhere like clothing would be great. I studied management in college so i am keeping my eye out for their jobs in management for when the store decides to expand, think its feb 2012 theyre starting the building works.

I really hope it works out for you and you manage to become a manager :)

If your store expands I can't see why it couldn't happen for you :)
