I joined almost 15 weeks ago and ive not had one day of plan think the most syns I've ever had in one day is 12 and that is exceptional usually its no more than 7 .
Well this week as I got my 4 stone award I planned to treat myself to an individual Christmas pudding but cannot bring myself to eat it . Its 15 syns so within daily limits . I just feel so guilty and I'm a little worried I've created a problem with eating that I'm not going to be able to treat myself . Anyone else the same ?

Wow brilliant well done!

Keep going and you will soon be at goal.

What is a typical days food for you or have you got a diary thread?

Bit rude!?! The OP has clearly asked for some advice and opinions. You've clearly ignored this and asked your own selfish question.

OP - I think maybe there may be a slight issue rearing it's head. Have you ever had a flexi syn day? What does the thought of a flex syn day do?

Perhaps you should have a word with your C about your feelings?

I think you should have the Christmas pud and enjoy it. You've worked bloody hard and deserve it! xx

Hiya first of all really well done that's an amazing achievement. I'd say eat the pudding and enjoy but how would this make you feel? You can still have your syns & I'm sure it won't affect you too much.

If you see there is an issue that you're feeling guilt if you eat your syns as Mrs S said speak to your consultant, I'm not really sure what else to say! Hope that all works out ok for you XXX

Well done on your great loss so far!

I've lost 3stone 11.5lbs now in 14 weeks - so very similar!!

I have anywhere between 5 and 15 syns per day. Depending on what sort of day I have. (on one day I even went to a flexi day of 30 syns, but then tried to cut back a bit afterwards!)
Maybe my way of working the plan isn't perfect, but I record everything I eat and use all my syns and I seem to be doing fairly well. My suggestion would be to eat it and enjoy it. We are all trying to lose weight, but we musn't beat ourselves up.
Best of luck with whatever you decide to do x

Mrs B, I think it's good that you've recognised that you might be developing a bit of an issue - that means you can nip it in the bud before it turns into something more serious. *hugs*

Do you think it might help to build up your syns gradually to help you relax a bit? Like, this week have a couple of days with 10 syns, and then the week after a couple with 12, and so on? Or is the problem that you don't treat yourself at all with chocs etc? In which case it might be a good idea to work some lower-syn chocs/treats into your day on a more regular basis, so you get used to the idea of being able to treat yourself while still being in your low-syn comfort zone. Or maybe you could start with half the christmas pud, and then have the other half the next day. You can definitely treat yourself and still lose weight with SW - you probably just need to prove that to yourself!

First of all - well done!

Secondly - guilt is a colossal waste of time and energy. You haven't done anything wrong, nor are you planning to, or even thinking about it. So no guilt - that's for serial killers and forgetting people's birthdays!

So you have this pudding. And you were planning on having it as a treat. But you don't have to eat it - no-one is going to make you.

Do you fancy it? Then try it, have some of it, see what happens.

Do you not fancy it? Christmas puddings keep for ages, so you don't have to have it now. Or even at Christmas.

You might try it and find you don't like it after all. Our tastes change, and what used to be a treat could now taste too sweet or too heavy or too greasy.

The thing is - take the pressure off yourself and stop worrying about it. It actually doesn't matter whether you eat it, store it, bin it or give it away.

You say you are worried that you are not able to treat yourself. But who says that treats have to be food? Have a non-food treat instead.

hi mrs b:)

first of all, well done on your amazing loss in such a short space of time, you are doing great!

with your syns, remember that 5-15 syns is built into the plan. syns are there to make sure that we can stay on track without feeling deprived. so you can have a treat occasionally. slimming world is supposed to be a lifestyle change rather than just a way of losing weight, and its unreasonable to expect anyone to give up treats forever. if you want to eat your pudding, have it! theres no need to feel guilty, syns are there to be used. you can also occasionally go over your syn allowance by flexi synning (deciding a maximum upper syn limit and sticking to it) say for a meal out or a few drinks should you need to.

hope that helps, and really hope you enjoy your pudding. you have done so well, you deserve a treat. and no feeling guilty! x x x

When I was a young teenager, I had bulimia, and even though I recovered from it, I have always had a bad relationship with food. My C is aware that I can overdo it, and she checks on my every so often, to make sure i'm not making myself ill.

I deliberately have an off plan day when i go down the next stone bracket- which just consists of one meal going a bit over- just because I expect to have days where I am not 100% when I am at target. I'm not saying when I'm at target I'm going to be living off pizzas and chips, but I won't worry as much when going out. I won't be obsessing about syns every moment of the day, which i still do 6 months into my journey (even though I have calmed down a bit)

My weight loss journey isn't just losing the pounds- it is getting used to having a healthy relationship with food and allowing myself to be a little naughty once in a while.

Are you expecting to stay 100% on plan forever and ever, even at target? If not- are you sure that once you are at target, you will be able to have the odd naughty treat?

Everyone works differently- what works for me may not necessarily work for you. I would love to lose big every week, but sometimes life gets in the way and I accept the odd 1-1.5lb loss.

I chose SW because I didn't really want uber fast results (like a VLCD)- I wanted a healthy lifestyle change, taking into account social events and treats, and i didn't want my skin to go too saggy (which even now i'm worrying about on a daily basis)

If you feel that you are developing a problem, I would really suggest talking to your consultant. They will be able to suggest what to do.

*hugs*

I'm a bit like that too. I currently have about 10 blueberry muffins in the freezer and they've been there since before I joined SW. I can't bring myself to defrost one for a treat!!!

I agree that your tastes do change and that's good :)

Anyway back to the pud - why not cut it in half or even quarters? For a taster treat :)

Or just save it til Xmas?

Think I'm going to have a word . The thought of a flexi day would fill me with horror lol . My fil has booked for us all to go for a meal for my mil's birthday in Dec and that just filled me with dread

ive been back on plan 3weeks today and have had very few syns but have eaten more than enough of free foods ect, im not stopping until christmas day, i will have a nice day then straight bk on plan boxing day :) you have done so well

Hi, the feeling of guilt with food is the most powerful fear we have within us. My problem is crisps have a bag...whoops , 6/12 bags later. It was bad so i carry on. The triumph comes when our mindset changes. You have done so well. I think looking at the physical changes you have had and realising how amazing that is. Re reading the sw book which reminds you 15 syns is allowed. You deserve it if you have worked for it. Food is not bad, binging is, and that is my problem. When i see "skinny" folk eat something fattening, i say..its not fair, how do they do it.. Then i think, perhaps they dont eat all of it...perhaps they dont snack all day, there must be a reason that person is not fat, and i am..binge is the word. Foid should be pleasurable. Enjoy your pud, eat it slowly, maybe have berries with it..you'll feel fuller and may or may not want it all..good luck. :)
