I am on my first week of sw... I went out for lunch today and have no idea on the syn values I consumed. I've also got friends over this evening
My question is this. How strict will I need to be this evening? Would going off the rails for one day really hinder my weightloss?

My personal opinion is if you're going to do it, do it properly. The whole point of SW is that you don't have to give ANYTHING up, you just enjoy it in moderation! Try to keep a track of your syns as best you can and then you can compensate during the rest of the week by doing "flexi-syns" If you have a look on the SW website there is some information on flexi syns on there, failing that wait for someone more knowledgable than I am to come along and tell you themselves :)

But there's no point in going "off plan" if you want to lose weight you need to stick with it no matter what.

You are ofcourse absolutely right! For lunch today I had chicken fillet wrapped in bacon & feta cheese. There was a creamy sauce poured over it and garlic potatoes.

This evening I opted not to have any alcohol but I would really enjoy a pack of snack a jacks or something whilst I watch x factor.

Yesterday (my 1st day) I only used 4syns. I hope not to use more than that throughout the week.

considering you could have a snickers for 15 syns then I shouldnt think a bit of creamy sauce would be majorly over the top so I'd say have a light day tomorrow (eg eat lightly so try to avoid loads of pasta etc - again just my opinion I am by no means a SW consultant!) and then get back to normal after that and carry on enjoying your syns as if nothing happened!

In general, agree with the previous poster in that either do it, or not. Not fan of flexisynning myself, just personal preference though.

However, looking at the meal you described it could easily be well over 15 syns. The potatoes were probably cooked in oil, so 6 syns per tablespoon for that. Creamy sauce, probably about the same for a tablespoons worth. Did you use the feta as your HEA & if so did you weigh it? If not, thats syns too. Was the bacon extra lean, if not, needs synning and was there any oil used to cook the chicken, if so, it again needs synning.

You might have been better off with the snickers :(

Don't worry though. New day tomorrow. I went to harvester yesterday & consumed about 25syns as a result. Back on today. All good.
