Hubby and I are in our 60's and following the death of our daughter a couple of years ago, piled the weight on. Hubby had a coronary 3 years ago so it is important for him to lose the weight and I have creaky knees.
We saw our doctor on Monday and he has enrolled us in the healthy eating group at the surgery. It doesn't just concentrate on weight loss, but also life style changes.
The councillor had a long session with us and although we both look like the Goodyear blimp, she didn't make us feel failures.
Our first step towards exercise is to walk the dog a little further each day and instead of jumping in the car to go to town, walk. She doesn't want us to have a knee jerk reaction to weight loss and go on one of these miracle diets. She just wants us to eat less fat and lose the weight gradually. She told us that we could not do better than try Rosemary Conley. So here we are. We have her cook book and the hip and thigh book which my neighbour has used as her diet bible from way back in the 1980's when she dropped a heck of a lot of weight with this diet and has kept it off.
This is all new for us and we are kind of looking forward to the new life we have ahead of us.
We have always been fit and energetic but for the last few years have just 'sat' Hubby is 6ft tall and 17st 13lbs and I am 5ft 5ins and am deeply ashamed to say weigh in at 18st 9lbs. Yes I know it is a disgraceful state of affairs.
We started out fight back on Monday and today is day 3. I honestly can't see how we will lose any weight on this diet because we are eating heartily and don't feel hungry. We haven't had indigestion since we started, and feel full of energy and are sleeping well.
W.I. Will be Sunday morning. We are hoping to have lost 4lbs each this week and then a steady 2-3 thereafter, but anything will suit us. Its knowing that we have stopped the 'runaway train' we had made of our lives which is the important thing. We both look forward to meeting and making new friends on here
