Cant decide...

:confused:I have a dilemma!

Ive been on the diet for nearly three weeks (And lost nearly 2 stone) and its my little boys christening coming up this weekend with friends and family visiting from all over the country.

I cant decide whether to have a weekend off (be a little sensible but eat), or whether to just eat a couple of bits that are keto friendly!

Will it take me long to re-adjust and get back into ketosis next week after this has passed if I do have a day or two off?

Any advice you guys can give me would be greatfully received as i think im driving my wife mad by changing my mind about what im doing every 5 minutes lol!

I wish I know how long it takes to get back into ketosis after having some time off but I don't :( Im guessing that maybe within a week as normal?

By the way you have done amazingly well so congrats! As everyone is different maybe let it be a learning curve for you and have those sensible foods but enjoy yourself a little and then get straight back on track the day after, see what the scales say the following week? x

I've found if I knock myself out of ketosis for something I get back in within a couple of days. BUT getting mentally back on track is a he'll of a lot harder x

I'd agree with Starlight that it's the mental aspect that can be hard to tackle after a deviation.

However .. If you feel you're unlikely to be able to get through the social occasion without joining in with the buffet then maybe it's better to plan ahead and exercise some damage control. Could you perhaps create a little platter of keto-friendly nibbles and put it aside just for you?

There are a list of keto-friendly foods in the sticky section. Be creative and the damage will be minimal.

Alternative, if you think you can be strong enough, walk about and mingle with a champagne flute constantly filled with sparkling water and sip from it ... that'd distract people from wondering why you weren't eating and keep your hands busy.

Good luck with whatever you decide. You know you can count on support here :)

I think its a slippery slope as I slipped on Monday as my daughter was home for her birthday and we all went out for a meal. I thought it would be fine if I went low carb and only had a couple of drinks. I had STS after a week of 100% and thought that it wouldn't make any difference anyway..well the past 2 days I have felt starving just like I did at the beginning and willpower is low. I know it is going to take another few days to get back into ketosis and that is the most difficult part of this. Saying that it is a journey that only you can decide if it is worth it. For me, socially it was but I wasn't prepared for how difficult it was for the past couple of days.:break_diet:
