Very new to all this

Hubby and I are in our 60's and following the death of our daughter a couple of years ago, piled the weight on. Hubby had a coronary 3 years ago so it is important for him to lose the weight and I have creaky knees.
We saw our doctor last evening and he has enrolled us in the healthy eating group at the surgery. It doesn't just concentrate on weight loss, but also life style changes.
The councillor had a long session with us this morning and although we both look like the Goodyear blimp, she didn't make us feel failures.
Our first step towards exercise is to walk the dog a little further each day and instead of jumping in the car to go to town walk. She doesn't want us to have a knee jerk reaction to weight loss and go on one of these miracle diets. She just wants us to eat less fat and lose the weight gradually. She told us that we could not do better than try Rosemary Conley. So here we are. We have her cook book and the hip and thigh book which my neighbour has used as her diet bible from way back in the 1980's when she dropped a heck of a lot of weight with this diet and has kept it off.
This is all new for us and we are kind of looking forward to the new life we have ahead of us.

Hi Tasi, Welcome to the forum.
What an awful thing to have happened to you, just can't begin to imagine losing any of mine. Bless you!

Great, however, that you are now taking steps to get your weight and eating under control. I know that you will just be so much better in your health and that will help in feeling much better too.

DO start a diary as soon as you can. There is an RC section on this forum. We will then know where to find you and be able to see how you are both progressing and give you the support when necessary.

All the very best to you.... :)

Hi :wavey:

Welcome to the forums :D I've been doing Rosemary Conley for 6 weeks now and I LOVE it. I've tried weightwatchers in the past but Rosemary is so much better. I attend a class near where I live so I also get the benefit of some zumba exercise which I love :) I've actually found myself to be really satisfied with the amount of food I can eat on the diet and my meals are definitely much healthier than they were. So far I've dropped 1 clothes size and 17lb (hopefully more as it is weigh in tonight!)

Good luck, :) sounds like you are really motivated to lose the weight!
