Need some advice please

Hi everyone, I've been struggling I'm afraid, need some advice, thats if you don't have a spare miracle handy!:wave_cry:
I've been 'loosely' following SW and have not done too bad, lost 17lbs, but I have tons to lose so its a drop in the ocean, but at least its a start.
I've kinda lost the plot over the last couple of weeks, I guess I may have put on a couple of pounds, I'll find out tomorrow as thats when I always weigh in.
I'm struggling trying to follow SW so have decided to calorie count, I've joined MFP and shall be using their diary, but I'm a little confused as to how many calories I should be having daily after reading the post on here, 'How many calories should I have' I was going to follow the amount as recommended on MFP but now I'm not sure that is right, is it too many?
I'll give you my details and I hope that perhaps someone could tell me...
I weigh 272lbs, my BMI is 46.7, BMR is 1,804 cals, according to MFP I should be having 1,440 cals a day to lose 2lbs a week, now I may be being a bit thick here, but I just can't seem to connect this with the post on here that I mentioned earlier, can someone PLEASE tell me if that is the right amount of cals to have a day?

Don't think I've read the post on here but sounds about right. We're almost the same height and when I started I was about 240lbs and was on about 1500 cals to lose 2lb a week too and it worked for me :)

Thank you for taking the time out to answer, very kind of you, seems I'm on roughly the right cals then if you did much the same, thank you for that, and you have done wonderfully with your diet, well done, great results.

I don't know if this will help you but I'm supposed to have 1920 a day in order to loose 1lb a week, maybe you can compare our stats and see if it looks about right.

When I started ccing I was heavier than you and I have trusted MFP's calorie allowance ever since I started. I have lost 40lbs so far and I have mostly stuck with my allowance. Sometimes when I want a boost I put them down a bit but you have to listen to your body.
Start with what MFP gives you and see how you get on for the first couple of weeks. If you use your calories wisely and eat healthily and throw in some exercise for good measure you will see results. After a couple of weeks you can reduce your cals if you feel you want to, but don't feel you have to. The most important thing you can do is LISTEN to your body, know one knows it as well as you. You don't have to eat your whole allowance, if you're not hungry, don't force yourself to eat. Some days you won't eat them all and other days you will hit your limit.
If you do reduce your cals, don't ever go below 1200 a day. Your body won't respond well and it's just not healthy.
At the moment I am recommended to eat just under 1700 to loose 2lbs, but most days I try to go for 1400. I manage this really well and my weight loss has been fantastic. I have lost both eating at my allowance and just under, so it is really up to you.

Try it for a few weeks and see how you get on.
Sorry for the long reply, I just know how complicated and daunting it can be starting out. Trust MFP, but if you are unsure come on here and ask. We are all in the same position and you will get some fantastic advice.

Good luck :) xxx
