Newbie....Help Help Helllllllllp!

Hi all, :)

I go on my 'no frills / Cheap as chips' holiday next week and then on my return 31/10/2011 I am starting the SW plan - I dont have much money so can't really afford or justify going to a club - as at the moment I'm saving for a house and wedding in no particular order!!

I am borrowing my friends literature from the class she attends but if anyone has any hints or tips to get me off to a good start I would greatfully appreciate any help that you could offer.

I wish to succeed this time as everything else I've tried in the past hasn't worked.

Thanks muchly

Hi and welcome :)

what plan are you following and how and when will you WI? I follow the extra easy plan at home and find it much better than when I went to group. how much weight are you looking to loose? I've lost 18pounds since April/may and feel great :) another half stone or so and I will be happy!

Good luck with your journey I have a food diary on here if you want some tips/ideas.

Xx

Hi MrsJH - Thanks for your reply.

I started the plan on Monday and so far it's been going ok - I have done it before a long time ago before the new extra easy plan, which seems to good to be true!!
I used to follow the green plan a lot but got bored very quickly, I lost 2 stone at that point so I know it works.

I have followed the extra easy this week and have sticked within my syns so I intend to weigh in on Monday.

Congratulations on losing the 18Ibs - well done you!!

My first target is to lose 3 stones (The weight I have put on since meeting my partner 3 years ago) then after that I still have a long way to go. If I follow BMI info I need to lose just over 7 stone (eeek) I have always been a 'big' girl so know that I am probably never going to be slim but just to be able to shop in 'normal' shops will do. Currently i'm a size 22 and it's a struggle to find things that fit and flatter!

Where would I find your food diary - I can't make heads nor tails of this forum thing, took me ages to find your reply. :)

Thanks again for the words of encouragement!

Hi Sodadreamer74, just wanted to add some words of encouragement on here for you :) I started SW just under 5 weeks ago (like you I am doing it from home as money is a little tight at the minute) and I have found the EE plan really easy to follow, in fact I can't believe how much I have been eating and have still been loosing weight - I love it!!

I'm still making mistakes along the way but it really does seem to be working so good luck, and if I can help in anyway please let me know :)

Hi Kirstym, thanks for the message and words of encouragement - I lost 2lbs - which I must admit I was a little bit dissapointed with but I suppose any loss is better than any gain?!

I'm wondering if I should cut out syn's completely? Still being able to eat chocolate and crisps kind of doesn't equate in my mind as being a 'diet' and i' wondering that if I cut them out totally that I would of had a greater loss?

What's a typial day for you? Do you use your syns daily?

My problem is my sweet tooth! Once I start I find it hard to stop although I did stick within the 15 syns bracket all last week. :)

Hi I'm also new I've decided to do slimming world at home on the EE plan.
I have only started today.... so far so good haha!!
I normally find slimming at home ok for a bit and then I lose interest as i'm not accountable to anyone if I have that sneakey peice of chocolate cake! which I'm hoping is where you guys come in! x

I would strongly recommend against not having any syns - for me I typical try to fall somewhere between the 5-10 mark but sometimes do go for the full 15 and it hasn't stopped me loosing. I think the syn allowance is there for a reason and also allows you too eat syn valued food without having to think that you are "cheating" - which makes a nice change from other diets.

If you take a look at my food diary (link at the bottom of my post) that will show you what I eat in a day. I will admit my downfall is alcohol so I tend to eat mainly syn free foods so I can have a glass of wine in the evening some nights or chocolate if I have an attack of the sweet tooth!!

Are you having enough speed and superspeed foods? If you are sticking with EE then you have to make sure 1/3 of your plate is full of these foods, so pretty much fruit and veg. If possible then snack on the SS foods (strawberries, melon, grapefruit for example) during the day, which will help speed up your losses!

Do you have a food diary on here? I have found it really helps as you can go back and see what youhave been eating and also others can comment if it looks like you are going off track a little bit!

xxLDNxx I thought that would be a problem for me too - however if you keep a food diary on here you actually feel accountable for updating it, and everyone on here is so helpful and supportive it feels like you have your own personal group to attend which is available all week :)

Thanks Kirsty.
I'll start a food diary. As you say it will make me more accountable.

I do find it helps if I plan what I'm eating for the week and have those foods in the house as it stops me from grabbing serving quick (and usually naughty)

I've been looking at other peoples diaries for ideas of what to eat, I'll be giving some a try ? x

I can normally control my eating at work. It's when I get home on a night. I'm sat here now wanting to eat but I'm full and I know I am I just want to eat for eatings sake :(

Come on will power!!

I just keep telling myself I don't want to be this size and being slimmer will make me happier for longer than satisfying my craving now (just need to repeat it a few hundred times!!) x

I know that feeling only too well!! I currently work from home so have the fridge shouting at me most of the day!! And I definitely used to eat when bored or stressed, so my trick now is that If i get tempted I tell myself that if I'm really hungry then I can eat an apple not the thing im craving - 9 times out of 10 I figure I'm not actually hungry!! Stupid how we have to trick our bodies really!!

That's my weekend battle with the fridge!
My problem is when my son wants treats that I like because as you said they then shout at me until they're gone.
He also loves baking. I have a plan there though!! I always take what he's made to his grandma so I still get a slice but they eat the rest so I'm not tempted. :) x
