Starting again.....

Well it looks like I am back at the beginning (well nearly) :wave_cry:

I mean the one (the only!) good thing about being back at the start is the reason I am back at the start is due to being pregnant and having a beautiful new baby girl now, BUT I still feel disappointed that I didn't stick to plan while I was pregnant. I'm still not quite as heavy as I was, but only half a stone off it so I really need to be back on plan now. I can't afford class right now as with being on maternity leave were struggling with the short fall in wage as it is and just can't justify the £20 a month cost (besides which the thought of leaving DH to put our 4 yr old and the baby to bed terrifies us both haha) so i'm having to do it solo till at the very least after Christmas, if not till April when I go back to work so I need to find the motivation from somewhere other than a class.....so here I am!!!

The thing i'm finding hardest at the moment is being at home all day with the baby, She is usually fussing & crying and results in be trying for an hour to get her to sleep (she doesn't like day sleeping lol) which then results in me either skipping meals (bad) or grabbing something quick & unhealthy (also bad but not sure which is worse!) so I need to start planning and organising in order to get back on the plan.

I think what you've said about planning will be the key. What about making some soups (i've fallen in love with pea & mint) or sw quiche so you can just grab heat & eat. Or have boiled pot in fridge - again just slice up and quickly fry off with egg & beans.

If you could afford to go class (think of the money you are saving on food) then go during the day - there's a lady who comes to my class with a 3 month old and we all support her (and admire the baby) - it may help you be focused.

Good luck Hun I know having a little one is hard, you just need to think of practical things you can do, are you breast feeding or formula feeding, you can have extra hea and heb on EE if you are breastfeeding
Have some fruit around to snack on while baby is awake and try to prepare an evening meal while she's asleep, maybe hubby can look after her when he's home so you can get a good meal in you x

I like the idea of making soups (I've never made them before) potato & Leek and I had a lovely spinach one once and I do like a nice bit of quiche so that is a plan as well, thanks for the tips.

I don't think that I can afford to go to class to be honest, I will check our finances again though as I do find it very helpful! I don't think we will save any money on food, as we have already had to reduce our food bill at the moment and really do shop on a budget, we don't get take outs, and hubby takes his dinner to work etc so I don't think it will reduce anymore.

Yeah I think it's thinking of the practical things, I really should be taking her out for long walks while my little boy is at school and yeah keeping some snacks for when she is having 5 mins on her play mat or something, i'm just usually trying to get some ironing or hoovering or cleaning done haha. The only thing that is SW friendly a lot of the time, and has been for a while is the evening meal, I prep it when I've picked up the little one from school & he plays with the baby while I get it all sorted, then when DH is in from work we all sit at the table and eat up (although DS apparently hates slimming world chips but happily eats them if I cut them to look like roasties, go figure!), The only things I need to do is stop doing is using cooking sauces, I do a Bolognese or a lasagne once a week and use the dolmeo as there "quick" and if I do chilli I use the colmans spice mix thing so I need to actually print the SW recipes off and have them in the kitchen so I don't need to use the jars, I'm sure once I've done them for a few weeks I'll be a pro at them and it will be just as quick as the sauce!

Thanks for the tips & help & encouragement ladies. :p

For bolognese sauces I use a tin of tomatoes and add some oregano salt and pepper mixed in with chopped onions it's really quick and tasty x

what bout a bit of a batch cook off perhaps once a week.. couldnt you get your hubs to take the kids for the afternoon ( even if its round to the nans so the baby gets looked after by someone else!) and make some meals that can be frozen.. that way you have ready meals for when you just havnt got the energy to even think about cooking but can reach into the freezer for instant healthyness!!
