Cambridge Diet Virgin

Hi all,

I have never been on the cambridge diet before and have just ordered my packs...

Just woundered if there was any first time advice that you could give me based on your experience.

Thanks
Richard:D

Hi and welcome

My advice would be:
1. Stick with minimins and ask ANYTHING and EVERYTHING. The support on here will get your through.

2. Drink at least the minimum water requirement and more if you can.

3. Prepare for possible constipation - try preventative measures either by using Psyllium husks or Fibre 89 (PH are my favourite).

4. DO NOT CHEAT ... if this is your first time then look on it as your 'golden time' and go for it, blinkers on, until you're at goal. I messed about and restarts are notoriously difficult!

There will be loads more advice from other CD 'veterans' - if you need to ask anything then feel free to PM me and I'll be happy to help if I can (or direct you to someone who can).
Good luck! :)

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

I am wanting to give this a real go, i have lost a lot of weight before and have out about 6 stone back on.

Thanks agin for hte advice and may give you a shout in the furure.

Cheers

hey scholsey, today is my eighth day on CD
Another thing to prepare for are the shakes- you wont like all of them!
I dont like any of the soups except for the tomato-even with that one i drown it in black pepper. luckily, a lot of the shakes are really nice :)

i'd also advise that you buy some ketostix from the chemist to test yourself for ketosis, after 2 or 3 days you'll see the ketones leaving your body. I and many other will tell you its quite encouraging. Even if you dont see of feel weight loss, it shows that you're still excreting body fat.

If the chemist ask you what they're for, my advice would be to say that someone you know has diabetes, and they asked you to pick some up for them-they're quite reluctant to sell them to people on low carb diets. (I personally think that's ridiculous)

As above-drink as much water as you can! preferably 4-5 litres (2.5 min)
the more you drink, the ketones will leave your body!

Like i said, i've only been doing it a week so i'm no expert but this site is brilliant for advice.

good luck!

hi truthfully it will be very hard at first and seem impossible, but most people here have been through it and will be able to help you through it. its a great diet and works if you follow it note for note and dotn cheat. also drink water(it may help to decorate ya bathroom or put a tv in there cos you will be in ther a lot lol) but other than taht look to the future of loads of shopping for ya new outfits

I am on Day 76, in my 11th week now.

Keep drinking the water

Don't cheat - you will feel so guilty afterwards

Don't over-exercise

Enjoy your journey!

Cambridge is absolutely fabulous and it works!!

Hi Richard.

I am on day 6 and just managed to get through the weekend of hell....if I can do that, then anyone can!!
My Husband decided to visit every take-away place around us locally and then proceed to eat it in front of me. Sunday afternoon saw me sitting with my family at KFC drinking a bottle of water, whilst they tucked into their meals.
This isn't easy, especially if you are SS. It will test your strength and make you realise just how many things you do that centre around food.

As everyone has said, drink your water...it does help believe it or not!! After 2 weeks, you can then progress to bars if you miss chewing something.

Good luck with your journey and come on here regularly, everyone is really supportive!

Mrs V, you're so right. I never realised how many things are centred round food and drink. The longer i go, the more faith i have in myself to go out to pubs, bar, house parties, etc. Not been clubbing yet but when i do, i'm a lot more confident i'd be able to bop around, fuelled only by water!

Thanks

Thanks you all for your advice sofar.

I will keep updating this blog and hopefully will post some pictures once i start to see a difference.

Thank you again,
Richard:D

Hi Richard and welcome

My advice would be to buy a mix of all the shakes/soups during your first few weeks - try them all, even ones you think you might not like. You will find that your taste actually changes and ones that you were keen on at the beginning you wont like later and vice versa. Thats why i think its a good idea to try all of them at least a couple of times. After that you will probably end up with a much smaller selection of your favourites.

I now only have choc and banana tetras plus peanut or cranberry bars.

Also, look on here for different ways to have your shakes/soups. Some people freeze their tetras to make them into "ice-cream"; some "cook" their soups in the microwave to make crisps or poppadoms or muffins from the shakes. I found this quite useful in the early days of SS as i was so desperate to actually chew something!

Anyway, good luck and make sure you keep us updated
xx

Hi Richard, good luck with your weight loss journey.

Just 1 question, you say that you ordered your shakes, was that from a CDC??
OR
Internet?

Hi,

I am registered to a consultant, i only like a couple of flavours so i had to wait for them to be delivered....

Any tips on making the soup?

Richard

The soup is best made by mixing 1st with a little cold water to a thin smooth paste and then topping up with hot water (not boiling).
That usually works.
