I am surprising my other half with a weekend away next weekend (lol). We are going to Amsterdam...
The thing is, I want to start dropping crypic clues, up until Friday when I'm planning on him finding out by having to print off our boarding passes!!!!!!!! God I'm excited.
So anyway...I wondered if anyone had any thoughts on clues / hints i could drop.

Thanks xxx

I'm probably going to come across as ignorant, but what things are associated with Amsterdam? I know tulips are...the first thing I'd do is buy some tulips and put them in a vase and place them in a prominent position. And maybe windmills and clogs? I'd change the computer background to some windmills :D And isn't gouda a dutch cheese? Get yourself some of that and put it in the fridge, lol!

After that I'd keep dropping things into conversation...maybe a different one each day until Friday? :)

Sian - I absolutely love that idea - just not sure that's what most people know Amsterdam for (though that may say more about my circle of friends)
Depending on your OH I'd be playing Bob Marley music, baking hash cakes, & making him watch that film about stripping (can't remember the name). But that might all be a little bit obvious :)

On a more cultural note, Anne Franks diary might be worth leaving around the house

Ha! I love your idea's.

Not sure he'd get the tulips, he probably wouldnt know what they were, but windmills and bob marley might get him guessing.

The computer background one is fantastic, I'll be doing that one!

Thanks so much xx

Amsterdam is also famous for diamonds....Diamonds are Forever perhaps?

I thought it would be a bit naughty to mention naughty substances, lol!

make him bike ride to work....wearing clogs ??? :D and tell him not to look in any 'shop' windows along the way ;) :8855:

With Edam sarnies and those kiddie windmills in the garden?

How about red lights in the window:8855:,

I don't know how you would include canals and bridges unless you use something like this for the computer.

On a more serious note, I love Amsterdam and know you will have a great weekend. There is so much to do you will not know where to start.

You could sing "I saw a mouse" all week, serve Edam every lunch/supper, say you don't understand him as he's talking 'double-dutch'. Off to go 'Dutch' when buying something.
Ask him what the flattest country in Europe?

You have all been amazing!

So far, I have put a windmill on the computer wallpaper and got my daughter to colour in a picture of tulips for him.

This evening I have put a pair clog slippers I got last time we were there in his car, so when he goes off to work tomorrow he will see them.

He's bound to be clocking on by now...I just think the clues add to the excitment!

Thanks again everyone! xx

Please let us know when and if he clocks it.
