what are the SS+ weightlosses like?

hello all im day 1 today i really wanted to ss, but my cdc wanted me to start on ss+ so going with her judgement.

just want to put my mind to rest really.. id love to lose atleast 7 lbs this week??

Ss and ss+ have nearly same losses so you won't be disappointed. Don't look at weekly losses as much as long as you hit the 12-14lbs a month cd say you can get ya bang on track :D

when i started my cdc said that cd doesnt recommend someone with my bmi to start on ss but i insisted that i wanted to do this and she said it was ok. however i do think in hindsight it would have helped me more if i eased into it rather than jump in at the deep end.

and like others have said losses are very similar so you will do great xx

good luck x

hi..
i weigh abt 19st 10...im assuming my bmi will be unsafe for ss then??

I think its just a recommendation babe. I started at 20.5 and i just insisted that i want to start from ss coz i want to get the maximum results asap coz im on a waiting list for bariatric surgery n my consultation is end of nov n i wanted to lose a fair amount of wait before then.

She said its her job to advise me but its ultimately my choice. She just contacts me alot to make sure im ok tho. I dnt think u'll hav a prob x if u do then obviously switch to ss+ but if u r in doubt speak to ur cdc xx

From what I have read around this forum, the losses are similar. I am doing SS+ as I want to have a sit down meal with my little boy. However, I would have probably found SS alot easier as it eliminates thinking about food.

Good luck in choosing a plan that will fit into your lifestyle.

I'm still just about over the maximum BMI for SS, and I was a long way over it when I started. My CDC never really mentioned it - but did start me on 4 products a day, which is nearly SS+. (Actually, if your BMI is over 40 you should be on the 810 plan).

I'm so relieved that she did that: if I'd had to deal with food, I wouldn't have stuck 100% to this diet for the last 11 weeks and I wouldn't have lost close to 3 stone. Interestingly, Cambridge themselves only introuduced the rule that people over BMI 40 mustn't SS or SS+ earlier this year. Many, many of the success stories you'll read on minimins involve people starting well over that and SS / SS+ing all the way to goal.

I wouldn't advise you to go against the Cambridge rules, which are there to protect our health. Just telling you what I did.

Anyone taking medicine or who has a bmi needs to be on 1200 unless they get a signed form from their doc. It's the same recommendation for those needing some operations. I had to do the 1200 when I had my root canal done!

i thought women between 40-50 BMI could start on 810, but men over 40 BMI and women over 50 BMI was a higher plan?

Honestly I think that people just need to do what feels right for their body as reading all these 'rules and regulations' from a book is just a guidline and everyone is different and our bodies all handle things completely differently.

For example, I started at a similar weight to you Spangles and started on only 3 products daily from day one and am now in my 16th week of SS and still going strong. If my body was telling me otherwise I would have increased my intake but everything has been okay and I have not had any problems along the way.

Listen to the advice given but also trust your own body and what it is telling you x

Wow, I've restarted CD on Saturday after meeting my CDC on Friday. She didn't mention anything about my BMI being over the recommended one by cambridge. And at present my bmi is 42. I'm SS at the moment and doing fine with it, but according to Cambridge now, should I not be?

Hey Hun, i'm having a root canal done, and was wondering what to do at that time, how long did you have to do 1200 for xxx

Im on ss+ due to meds i take . I lost a whopping 11 lbs in my first wk. I personally like to have a small meal as feel starved if i dont .. Its working really well for me as nearly 2 stone off so far.

There isn't a very big difference in the weight loss between the 2, just people find it easier to stick to one over the other. For me it's ss + all the way x

I am over 5 foot 8 so I have to have 4 packs a day. I also use the milk allowance from ss+ to make up the chocmint shake. This is what works for me as I couldn't have food in the house at all or I would eat it. The only things I have are my CD packs, some bottled sparkling water and skimmed milk.
Hopefully by the time I have lost enough to move up to step 2 I will have a strategy for dealing with food.

I was told to go on the ss+ but I'm now wondering if the weight would come off quicker on ss. Is the difference in weight loss much for heavy men 23+?? :) x

There's hardly any difference between SS and SS+. Also if you've been told to go on SS+ it might be because you need the extra pack/meal - if you don't have enough it can negatively affect your losses, wierd though that may seem.
