Wine at wedding

I'm going to a wedding tomorrow yay!

I'm keeping an eye on my drinking (will have to it's in Dublin so £££) but would like a glass of wine with my dinner.

The thing is, they pour it for you and I don't know anything about wine, so don't know what is dry, medium etc..

Anyone work in a hotel and know how big the glasses normally are?

If you're unsure of the syns, I'd err on the side of caution & go for 6.5 syns per glass (large glass).

A "large" glass ie 250ml of dry white wine would be 8 syns. Medium size is 6.

There's only half a syn difference between 'dry' and 'medium' white wine. Similarly sparkling wine is slightly more than still but only by half a syn for a medium glass so not worth worrying about.

Theyre only estimations anyway, so just stick to the following rule:


Small = 125ml = 4
Medium = 175ml = 6
Large = 250ml = 8
