getting my emotional issues with food sorted

has some slim place to be
I have been having a think this morning and am really worried when i get to goal that i will be back here 6 months down the line having to do it all again. I am going to be 100% dedicated but i am sure it must be harder having to re-do it and want to avoid this.
I have realized i am an emotional eater and also i crave carbs and bread however i don't know how to break this cycle. Has anyone come across any good books they would recommend to prepare my head for the new me and how to be in control of my hand to mouth action?

Thanks guys

You may want to check this link, Emotional Eating - How do I stop? it gives tips on how to avoid emotional eating.
But personally, I think, you just have to be in control of your emotions. It's okay to be emotional, just don't nurture it. All of us get into some sort emotional stress. It'll always be there. Just keep the positive attitude and make yourself busy, perhaps. Go and eat, only when you're hungry. Eat in small amounts. Just make yourself full. Be happy and stay positive always.

I find bread a real trigger for me when eating, it really makes me crave unhealthy food. I stopped eating bread a few weeks before I started exante and have decided that I am not going to eat bread when I finish this programme. I've lived without bread for 8 weeks now and think that I can live ok without it. I have told myself that I am emotionally 'allergic' to bread. If anyone asks me I just say I have a wheat intolerance. :)

I think carbs are my enemy. Once i start I just can't stop and crave sweet things all the time. Since starting exante all my cravings have completely stopped and i dont even fancy food now.

I used to get to work about an hour and half after my breakfast and start craving a snack, I'd then eat something really high cal and once I'd finished I'd be checking the clock til 12 so I could have a really unhealthy lunch. Then I'd go home and have more food before cooking Dinner. Exante has released me from all of that and even though I have only lost half a pound this week, I haven't wanted food at all and feel that once I reach my goal I may be able to re-educate my eating habits if I introduce only healthy foods.

thanks guys, I guess i just have to want to stay slim more than i want the rubbish. I gave up bread for 5 weeks and then did develop a wheat intolerance and did not eat it for 3 months. I then had acupuncture which worked and cured my reaction to bread, what happened?? i binged on it and then craved pizza, pasties, crisps and chocolate and because non of it made me ill anymore i think my brain decided that it was fine to eat it when ever i wanted so i did.

My problem is that once i start i can't stop i am the same with cheese as well, actually i think i am worse on cheese lol.

I will have a read of the article. Thanks for your comment and advice though.

HI ah, just looked at the test and have been really confused as i only scored 25 out of a 100. It said i have a very low tendency to emotional eating. Maybe i just have bad habits?

I definitely recommend Beck Diet Solutions book - it is cognitive behavioural therapy that you can use alongside any diet to help you overcome over eating / emotional eating / cravings etc. Quite a few people on exante on minimins use it. I picked up a cheap 2nd hand copy on amazon... defo worth a try

also add them on facebook and you get a daily motivational message which is really good

Definitely agree with ginger - Beck diet solution is fab, and I think is really helping me to at least become aware of my issues (even if I haven't conquered them all quite yet!)... didn't know about the facebook page, will check that out myself!

Pleeease guys NO food references on the 100% forum

I echo what has been said above, the beck diet book is great, very similar to LL diet therapy.
