Can you freeze salad??

I was just wondering if it would be possible to freeze salad??

I struggle with time during the week, to prepare lunches, etc. so I usually end up buying something at work.

I was just wondering though, if salad could be frozen...I could make a big batch of chopped salad, and freeze it down into portions, then just take one out the night before to defrost.

Would this work?? or would it just go reyt soggy??

Based on the state of salad when its been in the back of my frdige and frozen I am gonna go with no.

I have recently bought a food flask from thermos. I make up big batches of veg curry, mixed bean chilli, keema curry, and chilli once a month, split into 500ml portions and then freeze. Then each night I take one out, its defrosts overnight. Microwave in the morning, put in food flask, its still piping hot at 1pm when I come to eat it.

I thought it would have been a no....other wise loads of people would do it :(

I have thought about doing this quite a lot, but those food flasks seem soooo expensive lol  Are they worth it???

Mine was £20. I'd easily spend a fiver on food at work without it so it paid for itself within a week.

I have the same problem, it tends to go soggy if its too cold in the fridge. I found this the other day...
How to Make Salad in a Jar

not sure how available and costly this would be, but something to think about! x

I got reyt excited reading this, but I bet that air remover thingy is quite expensive, lol. Like the idea though :)

Think a food flask may be the key. A hot lunch every day at work....sounds devine lol xx

I buy a bag of salad a day; in love with Tesco lambs lettuce and red chard at the mo. So today I'll buy tomorrows. A Tupperware box of cucumber and a few cherry toms and I'm good to go, then I add a tin of sardines which act as a dressing too.
In my food flask I'll take leek and potato soup!

oooo, that sounds yum.....I need to learn how to make soup!! lol xx

Easy peasy, just cube (floury) potatoes, slice a couple of leeks, pop in a pan, cover with chicken stock, and herbs de provence & bay leaves bring to boil, then simmer gently for 20 mins until the veg is soft, remove the bay leaves, leave to cool slightly then blend using a stick blender, use water to slacken if too thick x

That does sound easy actually....but, what is chicken stock?? Is that those cubes soaked in water?? You can tell im not a cook cant ya...lol x

Yup I just crumble an oxo cube into the soup ingredients then add enough boiling water to cover!

I also paid £20 for my food flask - you get what you pay for.

PS I like the way you type with a Sheffield/Barnsley accent.

It's "reyt" good is that lol;)

I'm a northerner (born in bradford), with a southern accent (cos my dad was a southerner), living in the South East - I don't fit in anywhere! When I go home they look at me weird cos of my accent, and where I live in the south my northern sense of humour and brutal honesty upsets sensitive souls!

Both my parents are from down south - Surrey and they moved to Bradford - Rose, just before I was born. If im not mistaken i think you work not far from where I studied for a couple of years, tottenham court road? Small world sometimes!

Don't worry I'm not stalking you, just remember seeing it on one of your previous posts a few weeks back!

He he! I actually live in Farnborough, in Hampshire, so very close to Surrey, and work in London Bridge, but I did work on Tottenham Court Road till about a year ago - its a very small world.
