What do you get?

Purple Hugs

Loves weight.. training!
I'm just curious.. about what we each get from our CDC's?

i.e. are you weighed by him/her, do you feel supported (and how)... etc etc...

Thanks! ;)

My counsellor never weighed me. She offered...in fact she had a very impressive set of scales, but I just couldn't face it at the time, so always weighed myself and reported back.

I believe I was the only one who refused to have her weigh me :D

We got on brilliantly. She saw me weekly, and always contacted me midweek just quickly to check how things were

At our weekly appointment, we usually chatted stuff for about 1 hour. Usually diet related, sometimes about my life....sometimes about her horses.

What is it about VLCDers and their horses?:D

Love her to bits. She was the perfect CDC for me. Always there to guide, but never in my face. She never patronised me, but I always felt I didn't want to let her down.

My CDC is brill - she is caring and supportive but not in your face. Shes there when i need her and a good listener.

She weighs me and measures me. As she lives a long way from me i go about every fortnight but if i need anything in between she'll post it to me.
I get on with her well and we just clicked - i feel comfortable with her and consider her a friend. :)

I have 3 CDC's within a 5 minute drive! Excellent really, but not much encouragement for me to become a CDC. Don't think I'd have a hope of getting many customers:rolleyes:

surely you could advertise? in different papers or something? or maybe hold a group like some do? Do something a bit different?

I am in a town, and there were about 5 listed.. i plucked the first one out, and she happens to live across the road from me! lol couldn't be closer.

Aha! No doing things differently is my forte:D

Don't think she'd like the competition though. She's related to the other 2 :(

Doesn't matter though. I'd love to do it, but would hate to upset her.

Sorry....back to the topic.

Anyone else have great counsellors?

I get my food packs from my cdc, thats it. Maybe a 2 minute conversation while I'm writing out the cheque

I'm with Kati here - collect my packs every 4weeks, write the cheque and that's it !

no phone calls on WI day to see how I'm doin, nuthin, zip, diddly squat :( and when I do phone her...I feel like I'm being a nuisance...which is why I tend to ask all my daft questions on here ;)

My last batch of packs was one shake short...so I phoned and left a message on her answer machine (she's never there either)...asked her to post it to me cos it's a 90minute round trip to get to her...well - that was 8th September and, guess what ?? no pack yet - what service.....NOT

You guys who have great CDCs should REALLY appreciate them - you are sooo lucky :)

I'm just glad I found Minimins...to be my 'surrogate' CDC ;)

I am one of the luck ones too. My CDC lives 2 minutes up the road and she is great. I see her every week and she weighs me. We chat every week for as long as I need to and we talk about the diet, my goals, exercise, work, my children, pretty much anything that I want. She is very positive about me and the fact that I will reach goal and that helps to keep me positive. I feel lucky that I have her as my CDC!!

My CDC is a 'lovely girl' but she doesn't go out of her way between weigh-ins to offer support and as I'm never one for asking .... well, you know what I mean.

Even last week when she knew I was totally pee'd off about my slow progress and was doing my first ever AAM in 5 months, she hasn't called or emailed this week to see how I'm doing.

I'm not mega-moaning because she's very nice and up-beat but that's her one weak area. I usually spend about 10 mins max at her house for my weigh-in: I get weighed in, she asks if things have been OK, I pick up my packs and say 'see you same time next week' as I leave.

I'd give her 6 out of 10 :)

Just food packs once a month, and she weighs me then too.......when her scales are working. That's it really, but that's fine for me.

my cdc charges me £39 for my weeks supply and i have a 20 mile drive to reach her (did find another one same distance but she only had a few soups so i lived on chicken and mushroom for a whole week blurghh)
so i went back to my original even though more expensive had my fav packs available
she weighs me and im in and out with in 5 minutes
ive found out more info from here and my friend whos also on the diet

i sorta get the feeling she's only intrested in the money
but i dont care im loseing weight so
i take the good with the bad

;)

its just as well you have these sites hun, your cdc is rubbish told you a load of rubbish, im just glad its working for ya though :)

I have to say, I am gobsmacked!

They say that whatever plan of VLCD's you do, the counselling part varies, but still. I think some of these counsellors need a big kick.

My CDC still contacts me once a month to check I'm doing okay 14 months after reaching goal!

My cdc is lovely, but she likes to talk about herself and family, i don't mind really. I do remember on day 3 of diet, i really thought i was dieing, i felt soooooo ill i phoned her up to tell her i felt so sick, and her responce was sick up and shut up? ok then i thought, i was very sick, she did however phone me nearly every day after that to see how i was, thankfully the next day i was great. She has a very no nonsense approach, but thats fine, she weights me and takes my waist measurements every week, if i dont like any flavours or i'm fed up with them, she either comes to my house or i go to hers to change them. So all in all i think i have a goodun.xx

Can CDC's charge different prices for the products?

I go to see mine once a week, buy the packs, hop on the scales quick chat (not normally diet related!) and off I go. I don't really get any kind of "counselling" from her and was very surprised that she didn't call me during the first week to see how I was getting along. It's about a 30 mile round trip but she seems to be the nearest.

To be honest, I am quite okay with this don't know if I'd want to do the "deep and meaningful" with a complete stranger. I have found the support forums invaluable and am much more of a "thinker" than a "talker"

I'm one of the lucky ones too. My CDC is fab. I see her every week and she weighs and measures me. She has every CD pack available to choose from...... and even when there was a problem with the tetra packs a short while ago she put aside what she knew her regular people would need before selling the rest. I can be with her for 5 minutes, half an hour or an hour. The decision is mine how long i'm there with her. She also phones and e-mails me if she knows things are difficult for me, and that's not just difficulties with the diet. She is always thinking of new ways that she can help the people that she sees. And an extra bonus is she only lives 5 minutes away and only charges £32.55 each week which I think is the "normal" price to charge.

I know I'm doing the diet for myself, but she is so supportive that I always feel that I don't want to let her down.

After reading some of these posts I really do realise how lucky I am to have her.

Jazzy x
