I am in my 5th week, and I put on FB about being on the shakes...and a friend commented saying " you are not on one of those stupid meal replacement diets are you?"

I said yes, and I know what I am doing.

She then ranted about how she was on one for 3 months and gained all the weight back, and another 2 stone, and ended up with an eating disorder, and that she could not watch me do it...and deleted me.

I have known her 10 years...I cant believe it!

:sigh:

OMG!!!!

Surly it's each to their own and what happened to her won't necessarily happen to you....

Eating disorders are a physiological condition and to my mind hav nothing to do with whatever diet people chose to be on.

Hope she either gets over herself or that ur not to hurt by her crazy actions

Xxxx

Some people are strange and think they can push their views on you. I've had it too!

It's horrid that this person has deleted you because of their own issues / personal experience on a VLCD.

What you have to consider though, is that anyone who doesn't support you, is not worth talking to while you are on your CD journey as they will always be negative when you are doing so well.

it's sad that she has those issues, and she's obviously still in an irrational place. you can only offer her sympathy if she comes back to take it. But remember, these are her problems, her irrationalities. don't let them make you doubt yourself.

I think most of us have had negative views from so called friends. None of mine support me .. they want me to stay a fattie im sure of it .. Remember why you chose cd and stick to it. She doesnt deserve your friendship if she cant support you . x

She actually told me to add her back on fb "once you have proved me wrong"...seriously? wtf?

*sigh* some people..

Well, she is overweight...and is probably jealous I am doing something about it...

I think a lot of negativity about the diet does come from jealousy, you are actually doing something about it and may actually succeed!

Sadly this is why I tell very few people Im on the diet.

I just tell people it's a free country. If I want to go on a VLCD then I will. I neither asked for or care about your opinion so let me get on with it. I get this every day at work as I work with different people every day.

Wow... I can't believe she'd be so rude and unsupportive. Fair enough she may had struggled with diet, and not dealt with her food issues at the time, which allowed for the unfortunate events that followed, but if her opinion stemmed from genuine concern, the last thing she'd want to do is blank you. She'd want to keep an eye on you to make sure you were doing alright. I'm sorry you've effectively lost a friend, but she doesn't sound like one worth keeping. Even if you think your friends are making mistakes - in a diet, a relationship, career, financial... whatever the cause - you stick by them!
