Hi there,

I'm new here, thought i'd introduce myself and say Hi. Here's my story so far...

Well, i'm a working mum of two and i've been overweight ALL of my life. I lost my mum when i was little and although no excuse, I feel this is where my eating problems stem from. I think i learned from a young age to comfort eat and its just continued from then on.....now its time to break the cycle.

Around this time last year, I joined sw and lost almost 2.5 stone, it took me about 9 months, which was pretty slow and I kind of lost my way, possibly because of how long it was taking. I know that 2.5 stone is a good loss but I guess I got bored of seeing little or no results week in week out that I got bored and gave up. Since then (about May time) i've managed to put almost a stone of that back on grrrr. I'm really annoyed at myself but I realise that won't do me any good, I just need to get on and do something about it. I've got about 5 stone to lose, but just going to concentrate on the first stone for now...

So, here I am. I can't get to meetings so have joined ww online. My weigh day is Thursday and i'm 2 days in now. I have to say the only downside to joining online is trying to find all the info to get started, it'd be much easier to just have a book to refer to until I get my head round what i'm doing lol. I'm completely new to Propoints and feeling a bit lost at the mo. I know my daily and weekly allowance but is there anything else i should know as I start off?

I think i've done ok up to now, I really need to invest in some kitchen scales at the weekend, mine decided to die on me yesterday so there's been a lot of guess work involved up to now.....dangerous I know lol!!

Anyhow, I have a feeling i'll be around here a lot from now on, probably asking a million questions and looking for a bit of help.

Sorry for such a long post....if you've made it to here then thanks a million:)

Hey, welcome! I am an online e-sourcer and love using their site for tracking. I went to the meetings for the first few weeks but found that the leader wasn't really inspiring me (I find sw groups better as they make everyone talk about their loss, swap ideas and have a raffle etc) so I am doing it online only now.

Thinking back to the pack I was given at the meeting I havent even used it really! I think the key is to just change your habits and instead of a huge pile of potato's have a big pile of veg instead. The only thing I picked up on at class was that even though fruit is free dont over eat it. They said with banana's try to limit it to 2 a day. Also they always say eat all of your daily pro points and that you can eat all of your weeklies and still have a good loss.

Hope that helps a little!! Good luck :) x

Hi and welcome. Good to see you're biting the bullet and taking control of your weight now! :)
I'm an "at-home" WW. I don't have an online account and I've never been to a meeting in my life. I've been doing all this myself from the start which required a lot of guesswork and trawling this site so any questions you might have, ask away!!
Bit about me: I lost 2 stone on WW discovery last year then stopped dieting for about 9-10 months (managed to maintain my weight luckily), then began ProPoints. I've lost almost a stone now and even though its a slower weight loss for me, I much prefer PP as I'm never left hungry. ;)

Advice: I would echo what kerry has said about fruit. I never eat too many bananas because it seems to stall my weight loss, never more than 1 small banana a day.
So use the 5 a day rule (with fruit anyway, go mad with the free veg all ya like).
The WW meals are handy for lazy days and easy to point but I find they're smaller than meals I'd make fresh myself for the same pp. :p
I would suggest taking your measurements: waist, arms, thigh etc. to reference later... You'll be surprised at the inch loss :)
Defo get yourself some kitchen scales when you can so you can retrain your eyes to the proper portion sizes (one of my downfalls)!
I would say use all your weeklies (depending, maybe you have plenty in your daily pp at the mo?) at the start and see how your weight loss is, if its not what you want then reduce how many weeklies you use... We're all unique after all so, unfortunately, some of us can't eat as much as others and still lose...

Loooong post so I'll stop now lol, wishing you luck with WW :D xxx

Hi ladies, thanks for the welcome and your posts, its really reassuring to know that there's other people out there with a wealth of knowledge and willing to offer help if needed.

I'm on 33 points at the min. I'd like to think I won't need my weeklies but that may be a bit ambitious, i have a ridiculously sweet tooth! I don't like bananas so no worries on that score but i do eat quite a bit of other fruits so will bear in mind that I shouldn't be overdoing it....thanks for that.
I've taken my measurements in the hope that will still spur me on if the scales don't budge much and i'm defo going to get some new kitchen scales today....my eyes are bigger than my belly (erm actually no but you know what I mean lol)

Good luck with your weigh ins this week.

Good luck Kat. I have at least 6 stone to lose and I'm also breaking it up. My Christmas target is my first big goal but I have little goals in between.

The only reason I say to use the weeklies is so your body is used to the intake. I use ALL mine every week and I still lose weight. The losses are getting smaller so maybe time to rethink my weeklies intake or do more exercise lol. ;)
Good for you on the measurements, I took mine last year and can't for the life of me remember what I've done with them now... Always good to look at if the losses slow down though.
If you like, you can start a food diary or weight loss diary on here where you can shout your losses from the rooftops and others will give advice... I find it beneficial!?
Forgot to say before that its a good idea to set yourself some mini goals so that you can reward yourself and feel good when you reach them rather than looking at the end goal and feeling like its so far away!
Also, recalculate your daily pp everytime you lose 7lb to see if you've dropped a pp (29pp is the minimum).
Much love and luck for you :D xx
