MBTs - something that works but for when cash is not tight

One of the things I love about this forum is fact that we can share things that work, as well as those things that don't.

I've been wearing the ugliest shoes in the universe - MBTs http://www.swissmasai.co.uk/ - on and off for about three years. I did the Moonwalk in them last year, too.

I've talked about them in my various LighterLife groups but, over the summer, I stopped wearing my MBTs. One of my fellow classmates bought a pair recently and she was saying how fantastic they were, which reminded me to put them on. I've been wearing them for a week and the difference in my leg and abdominal toning is, quite simply, breathtaking.

Be warned, these shoes are neither pretty nor cheap but they work. Alternatively, this fabby website http://www.lovethoseshoes.com/ offers lots of variations of foot technology so if MBTs don't do it for you or your purse, you might find something on here.

Take care.

Mornin' Mrs L!

Intrigued about the shoes. I do a lot of walking and anything that could improve and tone my legs/bum would be fab. I just had a look at the link - they don't look ugly at all. I notice that they have stockists in Glasgow so, perhaps a shopping trip for a try-on is in order. Perhaps I could get a pair for my birthday (coming up next month). Hmm.

MBT's are great, they improve posture, make legs stronger, and there are rumours that they reduce cellulite. However, I think they should be banned in the workplace, particularly in hospitals etc where lifting, for OH & S reasons - they will make you more fatigued as the day goes on and the inherent instability will put you at more risk of accidents.

What you learn on this site, never fails to amaze me.
Thanks for this one Mrs. L. They don't look too bad to me, and now I've lost some weight and my once "perfectly formed" bum is visible again, I find it has most definitely lost definition and headed south. Way South. I'm struggling to find a form of exercise that I could take up when I get to management, this sounds perfect a bit of toning whilst I go about normal daily life. Absolutely spot on.

Thanks

Hi dancing, MBTs MUST be fitted properly to be effective and safe, so go and have a chat with a local supplier, they will be able to advise you. I believe Millets sell them. My understanding of them is that they are fine to wear with shin splints, BUT they must be worn progressively for longer periods over several days. In your case start with about an hour a day and build up.

This looks like a good supplier; give them a ring with your questions!

Ten-Point - all about MBTs - promoting an active healthy lifestyle

(BTW, i work with feet, in case you haven't guessed..)

Hello, bought some of these about two weeks ago, from John Lewis but as they didn't have my size in stock they said they'd order it for me to come and try on. I know that fit is everything with these. Well, they arrived but to my home and when I took them into the shop no one knew what they were looking for fit wise! Doh. Not very good. Anyway, they seem to fit alright although they rub slightly on the right heel.
I love them. It feels like walking on air most of the time and as I work 12 hr shifts in an office they are a winner!!!

Does anyone know if it would be OK to drive in them?

Although I don't do a massive amount of walking, I have to do some every day. I travel from town to town, park then walk as fast as I can to whichever place I am assessing, do the job, walk back to the car and off to the next town.

I have been talking to my partner into him buying me some, but I don't know whether they will slow me down if I have to change into something a bit more sensible to drive in, and therefore make them a bit less convenient for my work.

It's a toss up between these or a power plate - and I can't decide which!

Thanks Mrs Lard! I've been thinking of getting these for ages and you've spurred me on!

Well, I've bought my MBTs, but I'm not sure I like them!

I realise it is early days, but I'm wearing them around the house for an hour or so at a time and finding that with having to lace them tighly enough that they don't slip, it feels like I am cutting off the circulation to my feet, which are getting very cold and quite painful.

They're also pinching at my heels - does this ease off? I've agreed with the shop that if I can't get on with them I can return them for a refund (providing I just wear them indoors), but I don't want to give up if there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Your thoughts please!

Hi Amber, I just bought a pair the other day and I find them incredibly comfortable. It sounds as though you might need a different size...can you try exchanging them?
