Couch to 5K

I just wanted to share this with everyone as I'm not sure if y'all are aware of the couch to 5k programme (otherwise known as C25K), but I did this a while back. As a complete non-runner it got me off my rather cushioned behind and onto the road/treadmill. :hide:

You can download the mp3 files free of charge from the NHS at
Couch to 5K - Live Well - NHS Choices

So for those who are looking to get more active but don't know where to start, and the idea of running just terrifies them (as it did me!), then this might be the solution for you :)

Happy running! :D

I completed this in February and now run non-stop for 5k everyday, I've never been a runner but love it now although i have to say it never made me lose any weight but has certainly helped keep it off

I'm half-way through the programme and I find it great to be able to slot the exercise in where it fits my schedule. I ran(well, jogged!) 20 mins non-stop on Saturday - what a feeling of achievement after barely managing to keep going for one minute when I started 5 weeks ago!
I'm not sure I'm losing weight (lost that already) but I'm certainly gaining fitness, notice it when cycling now, I'm already less out of breath than I used to be.

Another thumbs-up from me. If you are using a treadmill (I am roadrunning), there are alternative pod-casts that might suit you better:

This seems like a really interesting idea. Think I'm going to give it a go! Thank you so much for sharing the link :) Much appreciated! X
