Confused about something

I normally have Ready Brek maybe 5 times in a week as my HEb but I have never had it with the 1 Ryvita Dark Rye/Original/Sesame instead I have a scan bran instead, sometimes. So 2 questions, do I have to to have the Ryvita for the porridge to count as a HE or it doesn't really matter? Or if I don't have the ryvita then the porridge does not count as a HE? Also can I have the scan bran instead of the ryvita with my porridge? Or is it not the same thing? It's only because I tend to have a lot of scan bran in the house and I always forget to buy the ryvita. I don't go to classes so I can only rely on the lovely people on here to keep me clued up :). Thanks a million :D.

It doesn't count as a HEX if you dont have the crispbread with it, for sure, but I dont know about substituting ScanBran/Ryvita.

I know loads of people *do* substitute them for each other, but I dont know what the official view is on it.

I disagree with that. SW said on their website that you didn't need to have the healthy extras at all so why would they insist that you have the ryvita? That would make no sense. Yes it is best to have your healthy extras, and yes you will not get the full recommended fibre boost without the ryvita, but no you do not need to have it if you do not want to.

Thanks Ermintrude and Patchworkpuss but I am still confused. So I'm just gonna make it a point to buy Ryvita today, don't know why I always forget :(. Just wanna make sure I am doing this right. I am a slow loser and I don't want to make it worse.

I said it doesn't count as a HEX if you don't have the ScanBran.
I didn't say you have to eat your HEXes (or not). You can still have porridge without ScanBran, you'd just have to count it as syns. To *qualify as* a HEX food has to fit certain criteria (ie calcium for A's, fibre for B's). Without the ScanBran porridge doesnt have enough fibre to count as a HEXB. That doesnt mean you cant eat it but you have to syn it, it doesnt count as a HEX without that ScanBran.

Its entirely up to you whether you want to follow that rule, but porridge on its own - without a ScanBran - is NOT a HEX.

That in no way affects whether you do or do not want to eat all or any of your HEXes.

ermintrude is right, for it to count as a heaxb you have to have the whole hexb, however, there'll be lots of people who only have one or the other bit, I forget my hexb sometimes by mistake or have one bit of the 'set' then don't get round to having the other bit.

so thats the right way, same with the scan bran substitute, I personally wouldn't go out and buy ryvita especially for that, but thats probably why ermintrude has had such an amazong loss :)

good luck x

Its not that amazing, its only just over 2lb a week... Theres loads of people on here lose way more than that! :wave_cry:

I never eat cereals myself and only occasionally crispbreads and even then I dont bother with having the full set of six or whatever, I just have two or three with a salad or some hummus or whatever.

I was only clarifying the 'rules'. I dont stick to the rules that hard myself, I just cook healthily and it automatically fits the rules itself if I do that.

What do you do normally have then? Wait I think you have a diary, I will have a look. Your losses have been fantastic ermintrude. You are doing really well, keep it up.
