Making it un-boring.

I own a wonderful state of the art treadmill.

But i find using the sodding thing so BORING.

Has anyone got any ideas on how to make this more bearable?

Ive tried sticking music on, ive tried watching the telly and ive tried making my boyfriend sit and talk to me. None of these things actually make walking/jogging/running towards nothingness any better..

Try something else?
I find using my rowing machine boring so don't rely on using that only, mostly I dance at the weekend, or walk fast or use Just Dance on the wii

Sometimes though I will challenge myself on the rower in some way - see if I can beat previous time or something - and I'll feel proud of myself for doing it, for pushing past the boring or tired feelings - a sense of accomplishment feels amazing for me as was very ill for quite a long time and couldn't exercise

I dont do a huge amount on the treadmill due to ligaments being bit dodgy but variety is the spice of life...add some intervals and set some targets. I have the following im doing

1. Set some targets - my short term is 5k in under 25 mins
2. a session where after warm up I do 2 mins at 90% max and then one minute slow then rinse and repeat 5 times. bit of a killer but not boring
3. walk backwards - im assuming you have a safety cut tie and arm rests. Its great for the hamstring esp if you walk on an incline
4. Do sessions where you run for say 3 mins at 80% max, jump off and do some exercises, back on treadmill do the same and off for some exercise. I do these with my son for rugby, so its run then press ups, straight back on the treadmill for 3 mins then off to do another exercise like kettlebell swings etc..,
5. download a good audiobook
6. I do mini triathlons - treadmill, row, elliptical 20 mins each
7. Try some challenges like this 30min calorie blaster 30-Minute Calorie Blast - Prevention.com
8. Get a more interesting boyfriend to talk to? Or set some races against him e.g he sees how far he can go in 10 mins and you have 12 mins to do same etc..,

I think audiobooks are a good idea. You might get so into the story that you don't realise you've jogged/walked 5k!

Also, maybe run outside? I know it's not everyone's cut op tea but it isn't boring.

Set yourself challenges. Say you ran 5k in 40 mins, aim for 35 and so on. I run outside and the thing that keeps me doing is wanting to beat my previous time!

setting goals helps, like others have said, aim to walk/run whatever lenght you choose in a certain time
