I thought I'd be honest from the start, I borrowed the slimming world books from a friend as I'm that rubbish at dieting my husband don't like me to pay. I haven't got a clue about the extra easy and my family like a take away every now and then. When you can have a husband who can eat what he likes and still be skinny:cry: it is annoying. I have given myself 15 syns, I'm not huge but I aint happy four kids (and no exercise, I hate it)has destroyed my body:cry: although I love them. Please can some one tell me how many syns are in the foods I eat out for both Original and Green.

KFC The Chicken Variety box.
Regular Chips
Hot wings
Chicken Strips
Baked Beans

Mc Donalds
Regular Chips
6 chicken nuggets
Strawberry milkshake
The Mc flurries
The ice cream cones with a flake

Burger King
Bacon Double Cheese Burger
Regular Fries
Milk Shake
BK fusions

It doesn't help I don't like salad, I suppose I could always sit outside licking the window.
Any help would be great, oh and sorry in advance if I have posted in the wrong place.

I have no idea of the syn value of the likes of KFC, etc.
I do know that if I want a snack and I can't find the syn value, a good rule of thumb is 1 syn = 20 calories. But, as far as I know, that's only for snacks, and things with 1-200 calories. I wouldn't use them for dinners or take aways. If you're serious about this, you need to give up those fatty foods (nothing wrong with having something like that once in a while) and start going to meetings. It keeps you motivated and on track.

Best of luck with your journey x

I agree with the above. The foods u have listed are super high in calories and fat and should only be a very occasional treat not something u should eat daily/weekly. I think a burger has over 15 syns that's without fries milkshake etc. Slimming world is a healthy eating plan and doesn't recommend u eat foods like this. U need to fill up on lots of free foods like fruit veg lean meat and fish potatoes pasta rice etc..not junk. U can get the starter books off eBay if u want to use them as a guide.

KFC
chicken strips EE/original 3 green 5.5
hot wings EE/orig 4 green 6.5
chips EE/green 10 orig 15
beans free

will try and get you the others in a bit, am at work so might take a while,

in complete agreement with above TBH, although it can be difficult when the family wants them, how old are your kids?

have you seen the recipe for SW KFC style chicken on here, it is lush and you could make SW chips as well, not quite the same but will satisfy the urge a bit x

Thanks it is not like I eat it every week, but like I said I want to get on track and I get no support from the husband. If we go shopping he will happily take the kids into one of the fast food places and not give a thought about me:cry: he said you don't need to diet you just need to exercise, I disagree.

Its all pretty much 1 syn per 20 calories. You can get the calories if you google for them as they are all online, Here's a quick breakdown on a Red day:

BK
chicken strips 3 each
hot wings 4 each
chips 15 (regular)

Mc Donalds
Regular Chips 12
6 chicken nuggets 9
Strawberry milkshake 21 (for medium)
The Mc flurries between 16.5 and 20
The ice cream cones with a flake 10

Burger King
Bacon Double Cheese Burger 23.5 (regular - large is 45.5)
Regular Fries 16.5
Milk Shake between 12 and 13 for regular
BK fusions

Gotta agree with the others above its not possible to lose weight or do SW whilst eating that stuff any more than once in a blue moon :(

No-one dieting or not should be eating that stuff once a week!! Once a month at most! that way you could limit the damage.

This is a bit of tough love, but you can't simply say you'll do SW a bit but carry on with your bad habits.
If you change one thing make it no more junk food.
Then after a month try a 10 minute walk once a day, a friend of mine takes her kids for a walk simply because they have a chat! Walking after dark is her favourite time.

If you aren't prepared to make changes then I'm afraid I agree with your hubby that you aren't ready.

Burger King
Bacon Double Cheese Burger 23.5 all plans
Regular Fries EE/green 11.5 red 16.5
Milk Shake medium 11.5
large 16
BK fusions can't find on syns online

hope thats helpful and probably eye opening for you

good luck xx

I have to admire your honesty if nothing else, but its not a great sign that you're asking for syn values for these foods from the off.

I am afraid that Shirleen is spot on. To add to what she said - your husbands ambivalence towards you dieting is not a reason for not doing it. So what if he goes to a fast food place every weekend. You are in control of what you put in your mouth & if you really want to loose weight it won't matter in the slightest if he waves a big mac under your nose to wake you up in the morning - you won't want it. At least at the beginning anyway. By the time your resolve wavers (for me after about 4 months) you'll really wonder why you bothered in the 1st place.

There is nothing wrong at all with not being ready to commit to it btw - i've had more false starts on diets than i care to count!

You could swap your fast food meal and spend the £4.95 on going to class. I know that going to a group isn't the be all and end all however if you're struggling to get your head around the plan and you really want to lose the weight then I think it would be £4.95 better spent.

Hi loufm, i have been on sw since begin of feb and since starting i have had a takeaway once a week whether it be mcdonalds or dominoes or watever. I have lost a stone and half and i no it doesnt sound much but i am happy with the slow.weighloss as i am still eating something i love.
I am not saying this is the right way but this is the only way i stick to it.
Also some weeks are better than others, one week i can be extra good and the.other i can go off track but i get straight back on it.
I believe if u are to strict with urself then u wnt stick to it, and when occasions come up etc enjoy it and have wat u wanf but get straight back on it

Gosh if I ate out regularly on all those things I would have no money to pay my rent. The class fee is nothing compared to that lot:) I know it's hard trying to do it if the family are not on it but going to the class really does help because everyone there is like yourself just trying to lose weight or have a healthier diet. I'm sure you would enjoy it. By the way it's your body so it should be up to you whether you pay or not.

I'm in no position to pass judgement on what you chose to spend your syns on as I have a takeaway or eat out every week but it's almost always chinese or indian where you can make more restrained choices!

I would however 100% agree that you need to commit to the diet for you regardless of what anyone else is doing. I can't count the number of times I've been in McD's and just had a diet coke, or not had a takeaway pizza when hubby was or not had luscious puddings when everyone else was or generally saying no to stuff which is tempting. But it's never been an issue because I really want to lose weight, I can't do it by eating that stuff and I can rise above it. Once you're in the right frame of mind to do it, you'll know and there'll be no stopping you! Good luck.

Hang on I never said I ate it once a week, there is plenty of eating out post on here and none else is being had a go at, some of you are making it out that I have fast food for breakfast lunch and dinner which I don't, I only asked because I knew we was having some sort of fast food for lunch and I wanted to stay on track and the info I got doesn't state, burger king , Mc Donalds or KFC, that is why I asked.

Erm we aren't having a go at you. Sorry if that's how u have taken it. People have been giving you their help, support and opinions based on ur original post.

Yes it is, and now they have put the calories up in Mc Donalds as well. By the looks of some of the syn values it looks like it is best to avoid theses places as much as possible.

I took it like that only because some had said I eat fast food once a week, I appreciate any support on offer.
