A game that i'll win! My journey.

So, was going to wait for my first WI before starting, but I've felt really inspired lately by many members on here, and you know what, this is for real so why not record every moment of this game I've started playing, right up to the point where I win it!

So a brief background: I'm female, 26, living in the west midlands with my fiancé Lee (30) and our chocolate Labrador Bailey (5) been together 7 years and I train guide dogs for a living.

I was never a large child, and I'm not even 100% sure when I become 'large' in fact, I skipped large and went straight to, and I quote my GP 'morbidly obese!!'

I hid this from myself a lot, I don't *feel* like I look fat, that is until I pass a reflective surface... I'm overweight.

After the usual trying to diet alone, off and on never more than a few weeks, weighing myself in the privacy of my own home, I decided I've been trying for years, and it's just NOT working. I was actually getting bigger... 17 stone....18 stone..... 19 stone....

Aside from the usual confidence issues, never having anything nice to wear, never having clothes look on me, the same as they do on the models in the shop - it was over this past month, after finding my size 22's tight and actually realising everything is getting tighter, that I decided to stop wasting my life with unhappy reflections and DO something more than try. To actually DO IT

Before my very eyes I watched a friend and colleague drop pound after pound on this diet. Until 3 stone later, in 5 months she's single handedly nominated woman of the year by her group! No nominees to narrow down because she got everyones vote!

Inspiration hit, plus my genuinely competitive nature helps, i decided this was my game!

After researching the diet and its foods, and getting my GP to refer me to SW for 12 weeks (longer if i hit my target weight for those 12 weeks) for free - I sat through my first ever group meet on Wednesday 14th September. Looking around the room I just felt... Supported. Every single woman and man sat there for the core reason as everyone else... To lose weight.

I happen to love my consultant, she's been there with the weight, and generally think she's perfect for the job, a major plus in playing the game!

So to bring this post to the present day: my 5th day into the diet and my first WI this Wednesday and not only have I enjoyed every single meal, every post of support on this forum, and every proud moment I walk into a shop and don't come out with a chocolate bar, I've found this an absolute dream to do. SO easy, I often have to wonder how I could lose weight like this... Im sticking to plan/rules of the game...and loving it!!

I'd love to keep this up, for me, to look back when I've won this game, or even during the times I really don't feel like I want to play anymore! if I can inspire just one single person along my own journey, that's fine by me, I'd take it as me paying back to those who have inspired me

So here I stand. At 20stone 1.5lbs and a whole new game to play! I'm ready to win...

First weigh in tomorrow! Excited because I know I've been an angel, but nerves because for my first week this has all felt so easy!

I just know I'll be totally gutted to not lose anything, I probably shouldn't but I have a number in mind that I would like to have lost, and anything less I think would be slightly upsetting. But I guess a loss is a loss, and the way I've been going over the years, it'll be a nice change from the constant gaining!

Had a pretty slow day food wise today, poorly dog this morning put my off my brekkie of weetabix and milk (won't go into detail about what I had to clean up!!) but I opted for a banana on the run (by run I mean drive) lunch was pasta I prepaid at the weekend which I really didn't like so mainly stuck to two mini quiches and some fruit

Made up for it with a lively SW chilli con carnie just now though, and as I didn't use my HEXb on the weetabix I had a bread roll with it! Joy!

Will report back tomorrow, interested to know how some of you guys felt on your very first diet week?

Emmey x

Really feeling the hunger today! No idea why, had my HEXb of 28g weetabix and HEXa milk with a banana this morning, snacked on some pepper slices mid morning but really can't wait for lunch!! Maybe it's knowing my first WI is tonight? Or is this the real thing now? Has this week really been 'too' easy and this is reality?

Off to go scoff some free bubble and squeak cakes with beans for lunch, followed by some fruit and a long wait for tonights 5.30 weigh in! Eeeek!

Really enjoyed reading this, and Im looking forward to your update this evening! I can guarantee you will be pleasantly surprised with the result especially if you have been on track all week :D

Are you making sure that your having your syns too? Major part of the 'game' haha love that! Never looked on it like that before but that kind of makes it a bit more fun!

You will have days where you feel more hungry then others, but the great thing is you can just eat a banana or a jacket potato or some chilli or whatever is free, whenever you feel like it. I began my journey (again) 8½ weeks ago and I've lost 14½lbs in total, but I have had a few hiccups along the way, so Im really chuffed with that so far. Im one of these that will throw the whole week away if I have one bad day but Im learning not to do that and Im still losing that week if I pull it back in! So if you ever have a bad day and don't stick to plan, treat the next day as a new one and you will succeed.

I too have a weight loss diary called "Diary of a SW girl :p" if you want to take a peek and have a look at my journey so far :) x x x

Oh thank you! Was starting to feel as if I was talking to myself in this little room haha. Really helps me thinking of it as a game, especially as I hate to lose ;-)

Totally agree with you too about a bad day just being a day! It's so easy to lay off the whole week just because of one day, any excuse really!

What a great loss for you so far well done! Will pop on over this evening and check out your journey! Love reading about other people :)

Having my syns I've got into the swing of, usually 5-10 a day it just felt so wrong having a curly wurly the other night haha yet so right! Lol x

Hi Emmey, I think we have met before... :)
Excuse me for asking but why start a new diary? .. Just me being nosey!

Seems like you are doing well and hope you continue on in the same way.
Don't forget that a "bad" day doesn't mean that you are a failure, they will happen now and again so count them as a bit of a blip and forget about it. The stress you may cause yourself will not be good in helping the weight to come off.

Here's to wishing you great success....:)

It's certainly given me a huge boost! Thanks :)

Well done Emmey - fabulous result!

The best thing about SW? You can stick to it for life - I'm 15 months in and still going strong! Hope you have another great week!

Thank you! Yes I have totally noticed this weeks much more of a sustainable life change rather than a crash diet! Really assuring that your still going strong after 15months! Well done :)
